TGB15/015/0125The Physiotherapy Division, situated in the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at Stellenbosch University (SU), wishes to appoint an academic on a full-time fixed-term contract basis, lasting three years, to contribute to teaching, research for impact, research dissemination and clinical service delivery within the field of medical and surgical AND / OR cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation. The position also incorporates course convening, curriculum renewal activities, and academic administration. Clinical service delivery will be linked to the Cardio-Pulmonary Specialist Clinic at Tygerberg Hospital.Duties:Teaching and administrationUndergraduate (and postgraduate) teaching in physiotherapy in medical and surgical conditions and related subject areas.Undergraduate and postgraduate research supervision in the focus areas of the Division, Department and Faculty.Clinical supervision of undergraduate students on the health services training platform.Actively involved in the design, development, and implementation of undergraduate teaching modules in medical and surgical AND / OR cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation andrelated subject areas as part of programme alignment and revision activities.Teaching and learning administration, including class coordination, module coordination, teaching and case lead / facilitation.ResearchEngagement in research and research dissemination activities, including publishing research in accredited, peer-reviewed journals.Engaging in divisional and departmental research initiatives (e.g. book chapters, inter- divisional research projects, and co-supervision).Actively developing institutional, national and international networks.Clinical service deliveryDirecting clinical service rendering at healthcare facilities where an agreement exists with the Physiotherapy Division (e.g. the Cardio-Pulmonary Clinic at Tygerberg Hospital).Providing ethically and culturally sound clinical services, as well as accurate record keeping in line with the healthcare facility's standards and practices.Requirements:Master's degree.Experience in teaching (as educator, tutor, or assistant) in medical and surgical AND / OR cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation or related area.Any clinical supervision experience in physiotherapy.At least two years' post-community service clinical experience, predominately in the field.Registered / registrable with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a physiotherapist.Record of appropriate, regular and recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses in the field of physiotherapy in medical and surgical conditions.Recommendation:PhD or registered for a PhD.Evidence of a teaching portfolio and teaching scholarship.Research outputs.Proven participation in multi-/ inter-/ transdisciplinary teamwork activities.
