LSW15/177/0724The Department of Political Science is a dynamic, research-driven unit which strives for excellence in its teaching, research and postgraduate supervision. The Department provides high-level theoretical and analytical training in a variety of subfields of political science, with a particular focus on qualitative and quantitative research methods, public policy, political risk, conflict studies, comparative politics, South African politics, political behaviour, foreign policy analysis, global governance, political economy and international relations in Africa.Duties:xc2xb7 Academic programme development;xc2xb7 Teaching and assessment on undergraduate and postgraduate levels in international relations and cognate modules;xc2xb7 Postgraduate supervision in international relations (with a focus on Africa);xc2xb7 Publishing in accredited academic journals and presenting academic papers at conferences;xc2xb7 Active participation in all departmental and Faculty activities;xc2xb7 Academic interaction with wider national and international communities.Requirements:A doctorate in political science or international relations;Experience in teaching at undergraduate level, specifically international relations in Africa and global political economy;Experience in supervision at the postgraduate level, specifically supervision at the MA-level in international relations in Africa and global political economy;A growing publication record in peer-reviewed accredited journals;Growing evidence of presenting papers at academic conferences;Proven academic planning and administrative skills;Good interpersonal and communication skills.Recommendations:Experience in postgraduate supervision on China in Africa;Knowledge of current developments in the fields of political science and international studies;Evidence of cultivating and participating in regional and global research networks;Experience in supervision at PhD level;An NRF rating would be an added advantage.
