Job Description

  • Provide support in the Small Molecule Laboratory aimed at generating external income for the UFS.
  • Contribute to the safety of the laboratory.
  • Responsible for the synthesis of muscimol and other contract molecules.
  • Develop scale-up methods for active pharmacological ingredients.
  • Demonstrated research on nucleoside and carbohydrate chemistry.
  • Optimize chemical processes.
  • Conduct research and support post graduate students with supervision when required.
  • Develop own research and publication outputs.
Inherent Job requirements:
Lecturer
  • A PhD in Organic Chemistry or a related field on NQF Level 10.
  • A minimum of two (2) years' relevant experience in the design and synthesis of new anticancer and antiviral compounds.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
  • Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
  • A good academic record.
Recommendations:
  • Three (3) years' relevant experience in Organic Chemistry Synthesis.
