Truworths is recruiting for a suitably qualified and experienced Legal Advisor to join the Truworths Corporate Legal team. The successful incumbent will provide legal advice and support for the Truworths Group with entities in South Africa and the UK. This is a contract position based at the Truworths Head Office in Cape Town.Key Responsibilitiesxe2x80xa2 Drafting, reviewing and approving commercial agreements. xe2x80xa2 Providing legal advice, guidance, assistance and written legal opinions on various commercial legal matters. xe2x80xa2 Advice and assistance on effective new legislative enactments, amendments and matters affecting the Company. xe2x80xa2 Working knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA), the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the Financial Intelligence Centre Act ( FICA), Tax legislation and company and consumer legislation. xe2x80xa2 Facilitate dispute resolution and litigation process. Oversee the investigation of the facts and merits of various litigious matters, assessing the feasibility of proceeding with legal action. Consult with business representatives and attorneys where necessary. Follow through and monitor the progression of the legal action to its conclusion including Court actions. xe2x80xa2 Mergers and Acquisitions advice including due diligence investigations. xe2x80xa2 Management and advice regarding trademarks, copyright and design matters xe2x80xa2 Specific knowledge of and enforcement of restraint of trade. xe2x80xa2 Pro-actively fully understand and be able to communicate and advise on pending legal changes/Acts that will affect the Company. xe2x80xa2 You will be responsible for regulatory and compliance matters.Qualifications and Experiencexe2x80xa2 10+ years of relevant (post articles) experience xe2x80xa2 Proven track record of working on corporate commercial matters and negotiating commercial contracts xe2x80xa2 Knowledge and experience of contracts xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of NCA, CPA, POPIA, and FICA (knowledge of Tax Law may be beneficial) xe2x80xa2 IT competence in Microsoft Office software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel and Power-point (essential)Competenciesxe2x80xa2 Ability to build and maintain solid working relationships on all levels xe2x80xa2 Ability to reason, research and apply concepts to facilitate decision-making within the business xe2x80xa2 High level of respect for confidentiality/discretion xe2x80xa2 Sound business acumen xe2x80xa2 Ability to work independently as well as in a team xe2x80xa2 Excellent negotiation and communication skills xe2x80xa2 Diligent, self-motivated and desire to add value xe2x80xa2 High attention to detail xe2x80xa2 Ability to perform to required standards under pressure xe2x80xa2 Lateral thinker with insight into commercial transactions xe2x80xa2 Ability to type/format legal agreements xe2x80xa2 Excellent drafting skills xe2x80xa2 Deliver completed work (xe2x80x9ctrust to deliverxe2x80x9d)
