LIC Planning Specialist - Western CapeFull job descriptionListing reference: woolw_000941Listing status: OnlineApply by: 18 September 2024Position summaryIndustry: FMCG & Supply ManagementJob category: FMCG, Retail, Wholesale and Supply ChainLocation: Western CapeContract: PermanentRemuneration: Market RelatedEE position: YesIntroductionAre you interested in a career as a LIC Planning Specialist at Woolworths?Job description Main PurposeGenerating cost effective Transport plans for Products and equipment through Daily debriefing with transporters and the rest of the Logistics Integrated Centre (LIC) team to support the business in running its Transport Planning function and meeting the KPIxe2x80x99s and SLAs in this space.Key ResponsibilitiesPlanning transport activities cost effectively on a daily basis to meet agreed KPIxe2x80x99s and SLAsWorking together with the operations team and senior planners to be aware of daily operational variables which may influence future route schedulingUpdating and interpreting hard and soft constraints on delivery sites and fleetBuilding optimal shipments from the movement requirementsDeciding what to complete with dedicated vs ad-hoc capacityProducing accurate and cost-effective plans based on database parameters and certain manual intervention for dedicated fleetSecuring capacity for ad-hoc demand. This includes service provider, vehicle type and loading expected time of arrival (ETA)Building relationships with transport service providers and their operational staff who book vehiclesOn-time and accurate publishing of route schedules per delivery typeMeasuring and publishing planning KPIxe2x80x99s and management reportingAnalysing and reporting on assigned short term projectsContinuous improvement of planning function and reportingContinuous monitoring of actual vs. planned performance through all functions in order to quickly respond to changes in the system that requires changes to the tactical planCrisis management and providing formal feedback on changes to plan and executionEffectively communicate plans and performance against planContinuous improvement of Transport plans taking changing operational dynamics into accountAssist to manage the end-to-end customer service process in line with Best Operating practiceAssisting with general office work i.e., Planning requisition management, KPI update, invocom updates, OEC Files updatesWorking together with the operations team and the rest of the LIC team to be aware of daily operational variables which may influence future route schedulingKey CompetencyPassion for the brand and customersPersonal effectivenessThinking strategically and commerciallyLeading transformationDelivering high performanceConnecting peoplePlanning & organizingDriving qualityMaking insightful business decisionsHaving an innovative merchant mind-setOperational flexibility - rotational weekend coverage Minimum requirements Other Job RequirementsWhat theoretical knowledge (e.g., degree / diploma) does the job requireDegree or Diploma in LogisticsA minimum of three years relevant experienceStrong Excel skillsetExperience in using Planning tools (Transport Management Systems)FMCG and retail experience will be advantageousAdvance computer literacy skillsStrong numerical aptitudeLogical and analytical thinker, able to translate ideas into practical business solutionsDeep understanding of Transport and its different costs elementsDeep understanding of total operational costs and cost drivers (what are the key cost drivers to improve to improve the operation)Good attention to detailGood self-management and interpersonal skillsHigh energy levelAble to work independentlyAble to multi-taskProactiveAble to work under pressureStrong crisis management and conflict resolution skillsetOperational flexibility - rotational weekend coverageMust be willing to work exceptionally hard and contribute a successful teamOther key requirementsThe deliverables are not limited to the accountabilities specified in the job advert.
