Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in litigation, preferably with a focus on civil, commercial, or family law.
LLB Degree (Law Degree) from a recognized institution.
Essential: Own Vehicle and valid Drivers License.
Proven ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Admitted Attorney in South Africa with the right to practice as an attorney in the High Court.
Roles and Responsibilities:Case Management:
Handle a diverse caseload, including civil, commercial, and family law matters.
Conduct thorough assessments of client cases, providing detailed advice and guidance.
Draft legal documents, including summons, pleadings, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
Prepare legal opinions and strategize with clients to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Court Representation:
Represent clients in court hearings, motions, and trials.
Prepare and deliver compelling arguments in litigation proceedings.
Conduct cross-examinations of witnesses and challenge opposing arguments.
Ensure compliance with procedural and court rules, meeting deadlines and managing time efficiently.
Research and Legal Writing:
Conduct in-depth legal research to support litigation strategies.
Prepare legal memoranda and summaries of case law for internal use and client communication.
Stay updated with relevant changes in legislation and case law.
Negotiation and Settlement:
Lead settlement negotiations with opposing parties to resolve disputes efficiently.
Advise clients on potential settlement offers, including benefits and risks.
Draft settlement agreements and other related documents when cases are resolved out of court.
Client Communication:
Maintain regular and transparent communication with clients regarding case progress.
Provide clients with comprehensive advice on legal matters, ensuring they understand all possible outcomes.
Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
Post-Trial Activities:
Advise clients on the enforcement of judgments and assist with the execution of court orders.
Handle appeals, including the preparation of appeal papers and legal arguments.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the Director and other members of the team to ensure cohesive and efficient legal services.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on case strategy and firm development.
