Provide high-level secretarial and administrative support to attorneys specializing in litigation.
Draft legal documents such as pleadings, affidavits, motions, notices of motion, and court applications for both High Court and Magistrate Court cases.
Assist in preparing and organizing files for hearings, motions, and trials.
Maintain case management systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
Manage and prioritize deadlines, ensuring that legal documents are filed and served within required timeframes.
Liaise with clients, courts, and opposing attorneys to schedule hearings and meetings.
Coordinate and manage communication regarding court appearances, hearings, and deadlines.
Handle all correspondence related to litigation matters.
Prepare briefs and manage exhibits for court appearances.
Organize and manage case-related documents and files, ensuring they are easily accessible.
Attend to any ad-hoc duties related to legal support.
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years' experience as a Litigation Secretary with extensive knowledge of High Court and Magistrate Court procedures.
Proficient in drafting legal documents (pleadings, affidavits, notices, etc.) and a strong understanding of legal terminology.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Professional and reliable with strong attention to detail.
Own transport is required to travel to and from court and the office.
Familiarity with legal software and document management systems is an advantage.
