At Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd, we strive to deliver best in class locomotives to our customer for use of freight transportation on the railway corridors of South Africa.Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for a Product Introduction Field Engineer for our Traxx Africa project based in Richardsbay.THE PURPOSE OF THE PRODUCT INTRODUCTION FIELD ENGINEER ROLE IS TO:
Provides field engineering leadership, assist and support to projects & PI team for investigation, troubleshooting and resolution of technical/quality issuesTHE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:1. Effective performance of Troubleshooting, repairs, Field modifications and testing activities
xefx82xa7 Support any technical activity on Alstom products during PI period as well as Commissioning, Warranty (and Validation & Certification phase if applicable)
xefx82xa7 Diagnoses cause of malfunction/failure of operational equipment and recommends preventative and corrective actions
xefx82xa7 Define troubleshooting methodology
xefx82xa7 Provides technical guidance and supports technicians in troubleshooting and repairs
xefx82xa7 Provides feedback on technical documentation deficiencies.
xefx82xa7 Advises PI management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product enhancements
xefx82xa7 Drive Kx (8D) issues with Quality and internal & external Suppliers as support of PrPIM
xefx82xa7 Ensure completeness and quality of input to Failure Management data base for RAMS exploitation
xefx82xa7 Drive Reliability Growth through failure/event investigation and reliability forecast implementation (with RAMS support).
xefx82xa7 Drive and support containment to avoid reoccurrence of failures
xefx82xa7 Supports as-maintained Alstom product configuration control and relevant documentation management
xefx82xa7 Support technical reviews with internal and external Suppliers, partners, customers, authorities
xefx82xa7 Ensure & facilitate information flow within the PI Customer Site, PI functions and project teams. Provides status and transparence on PI activities, key technical issues, to PrPIM.
xefx82xa7 Apply EHS requirements on site with the support of EHS team representatives
xefx82xa7 Drive technical Return of Experience/reporting/feedback as support of PrPIM
xefx82xa7 Support Obsolescence Management (if applicable)
xefx82xa7 Support preparation and implementation of Field Modifications (FM)2. Compliance and adherence to Environment, Health, Safety and Quality rules, procedures and policies at all times.
xefx82xa7 Ensure that all quality standards are always met
xefx82xa7 Follow depot/site procedures and instructions, both from the Company and from the customer
xefx82xa7 Ensure that quality standards of components are met
xefx82xa7 Implement 8D Practices and PPS Practices as and when required
xefx82xa7 Ensure Zero outstanding NCR's
xefx82xa7 Locomotive Configuration - Ensure serialized numbers are logged in MAXIMO / GSI
xefx82xa7 I-Forms - Attend to I-Forms; Raise product related Issues; Report Incidents and Complete Actions
xefx82xa7 Comply with all safety related training and ensure up to date certifications as required i.e. working at heights
xefx82xa7 Report any and all safety concerns as per Company procedure
xefx82xa7 Collaborate with EHS and Quality teams to ensure we put safety first and maintain first class quality3. Accurate and up to date Reporting and Data management
xefx82xa7 Initiate update, and close work orders on GSI
xefx82xa7 Ensure that test documentation are filled out and placed in data file
xefx82xa7 Ensure that accurate reporting of work performed are done on GSI.
xefx82xa7 Ensure accurate and comprehensive reporting after testing activities
xefx82xa7 Ensure that routine testing and type testing documents are completed
xefx82xa7 Ensure comprehensive and accurate failure reporting are done
xefx82xa7 Ensure proper record keeping
xefx82xa7 Support the Commissioning Engineer with reporting where required4. Model the AIR values of the Company and always act ethically and compliant
xefx82xa7 Continually model Alstoms AIR values
xefx82xa7 Follow through to ensure that personal quality and productivity standards are consistently and accurately maintained

xefx82xa7 B.Ing / Bsc Engineer (Electrical / Electromechanical/ Mechanical)
xefx82xa7 Minimum 5 years Rolling Stock (Locomotive / train) experience
xefx82xa7 Railway safety & RAMS experience will be advantageous
xefx82xa7 Environment, Health and Safety knowledge/exposure
xefx82xa7 Hands on Testing / Commissioning, fault finding & repair experience
xefx82xa7 Proficient in reading schematics and technical drawings
xefx82xa7 Data analytics
xefx82xa7 Experience in analytical fault reporting and report writing
