Locum Paediatrician Palliative Care
Job Description
Duties:
Provide locum cover (during annual and sick leave periods), including school holidays but not public holidays
See hospitalized patients mostly in Red Cross War Memorial Childrens Hospital, also Mowbray Maternity hospital and others including private sector hospitals
Perform a holistic Paediatric Palliative Care assessment of the patient, caregiver, and family and liaise with primary hospital teams, Palliative Care Nurse at RCWMCH as well as relevant team members to come up with a holistic management plan that includes an advance care plan when needed
Participate in multidisciplinary discussions with relevant teams in hospitals to make decisions
Be involved in discharge planning/ establishing relationships with colleagues and teams outside of the hospital in the Metro, Western Cape, and occasionally other Provinces to ensure continuity of Care from hospital to home
Participate in Multi-disciplinary Out-Patient Clinics as required
Participate in a weekly Multi-Disciplinary Meetings on (Fridays)
Maintain good clinical record keeping and assist with data collation especially for donors
Be involved in Paediatric Palliative Care training for 4th and 6th year medical students (Remunerated by UCT)
Assist with training Workshops when needed
