This role requires strong accounting skills, proficiency in MS Office, and the ability to manage various financial tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail.DescriptionAs a Lodge Financial Assistant, you will be integral in assisting lodge bookkeepers and administrators, managing monthly financial processes, and supporting lodge managers and directors with financial queries. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, monthly management accounts, and forecasts, as well as assisting with year-end audits and capital expenditure tracking. You will also liaise with professional and legal advisors and tax authorities, with potential travel requirements. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity across the region.

  • Assist Lodge Bookkeepers and lodge administrators.
  • Support lodge managers and Directors with financial queries.
  • Prepare and review South African lodge balance sheet reconciliations and process monthly journals.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts for regional business units.
  • Assist with quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and high-level forecasts.
  • Aid in addressing year-end audit queries.
  • Participate in the training of staff from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Track capital expenditures and related functions.
  • Liaise with professional and legal advisors, tax authorities, etc.
  • Travel if necessary.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as required.
  • Ensure month-end processes for multiple lodges are completed on time.
  • Process monthly journals related to South African lodges.
  • Verify the accuracy of data from various platforms.
  • Provide variance analysis and accounting support to central teams.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating audits, and addressing audit queries.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and track capital expenditure.
  • Support Lodge Bookkeepers and administrators.
  • Address queries from lodge managers and Directors.
  • Perform bank reconciliation checks.
  • Review and circulate monthly management accounts.
  • Ensure financial integrity and standardization across the region.
Minimum Requirements
  • B Comm (Accounting) with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel (advanced skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP).
  • Experience with Panstrat and/or Microsoft Access is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Pastel is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective planning and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to apply organizational knowledge to identify problems and opportunities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
