Logistics Manager - Port ElizabethFull job descriptionOpportunity Available!! Our leading client in the Automotive Sector is looking to employ a Logistics Manager to join their dynamic team in Gqeberha/Port Elizabeth.:Analyse the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriersCollaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shippingCreate policies or procedures for logistics activitiesDirect inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management.Establish or monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems.Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metricsMaintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety recordsNegotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainabilityPlan or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or processesRecommend purchase of new or improved technology, such as automated systemsResolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issuesSupervise the work of logistics specialists, planners, or schedulersCommunicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation servicesDirect or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resourcesKnowledge of Legal requirement of Inward/ Outward, subcontracting process, Production Planning, Material Scheduling, Transport Management and Manpower HandlingLiaison with Customer Service & Sales in order to understand & satisfy customer needs and where necessary provide support communicating with external customers.Management of the inventory levels throughout the business driving to have the right inventory in the right levels to best balance market needs and business requirementsLiaison with production staff, including production manager to assist with level loading of the plant and plan future capacity requirementsProvision of departmental KPIs which measure departmental performance , i.e. level loading, adherence to lead-time, lead-time management, and customer service performanceJob Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Logistics Management or related fieldAt least five (5) years experience in supply chain management/ LogisticsExperience in the following required: master scheduling; MRP implementation and Planning System development, capacity planning and inventory management.For more information please contact:Bridgette Groep
