Job Summary POSITION: Maintenance Fitter DEPARTMENT: Maintenance and Transport REPORTING TO: Facilities Manager MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: xe2x80xa2 Grade 12 (with Mathematics) preferred xe2x80xa2 Trade Certificate as a Maintenance Fitter or Millwright MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: xe2x80xa2 Minimum of 2 years' experience in the manufacturing industry after completion of trade test xe2x80xa2 Experience in general maintenance of plant and equipment xe2x80xa2 Hydraulic and pneumatic experience xe2x80xa2 Experience in ARC, MIG and stainless steel TIG welding preferred xe2x80xa2 Experience in the operation of milling and turning machines an advantage xe2x80xa2 Extensive experience in the installation, movement and repair of equipment and machinery preferred SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES xe2x80xa2 Verbal and written Communication skills in English as a minimum. Afrikaans an advantage xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of boilers, chiller units and compressors advantageous xe2x80xa2 Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines xe2x80xa2 Excellent Attention to Detail xe2x80xa2 Strong numeracy skills xe2x80xa2 Be able to work shifts and overtime when required xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of pressure, hydraulic and pneumatic systems SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: xe2x80xa2 Install, move or repair and maintain plant equipment to ensure maximum utilisation xe2x80xa2 Action maintenance work orders as required xe2x80xa2 Perform planned maintenance as per preventative maintenance checklist and plans xe2x80xa2 Perform routine maintenance on vehicles as per Line Manager instructions xe2x80xa2 Report any problems with equipment to Line Manager if repair is not possible xe2x80xa2 Attend to breakdowns when called out after hours and retain record of work done xe2x80xa2 Interpretation of engineering drawings i.e. read, interpret and draw mechanical drawings and sketches xe2x80xa2 Stripping, inspection, fault finding, dis-assembly and re-assembly of machinery or vehicles xe2x80xa2 Machining of materials for cutting, welding and bending xe2x80xa2 Effectively use power tools, hand tools, measuring tools and equipment for cutting, welding and brazing xe2x80xa2 Fabricate and repair parts, using instrumentation and equipment while maintaining a safe and clean working environment xe2x80xa2 Align machines (jacks, hoists etc.) xe2x80xa2 Perform basic maintenance on the vehicle as per Line Manager's instructions xe2x80xa2 Operate trucks and overhead crane (if in possession of valid license) xe2x80xa2 Work in accordance with Maintenance Work Instructions xe2x80xa2 Work at Heights. Ensure required PPE is worn and you are fit to work at heights (if in possession of valid license) xe2x80xa2 Perform condition inspections on plant equipment when requested and generate report of findings xe2x80xa2 Work in accordance with HR, Quality & SHE Policies xe2x80xa2 Carry out any other work, within reason, as per Supervisor's instructions Female Applicants are encouraged to apply.
