GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

To provide the necessary building related maintenance support, maintaining the integrity of the building and other property through physical involvement.

Physical involvement means using hands and tool to do general building maintenance and repair work such as painting, basic plumbing and building repairs as well as utilizing an assistant.

TASKS

Performing assigned or identified maintenance tasks.

Work independently planning, arranging material for and executing tasks. Utilise and supervisor assistant.

Typical task involvement:

Painting

Drywalling

Irrigation

Tarring

Cementing

Drains

Toilet/Urinal repairs

Rubble removing

Fitting of door locks

Drilling/saw/handtools etc

Office moving

Carpet repairs

Hanging fixtures

Repair roof leaks

Tiling/grouting

Replacing doors

Fixing taps/mixers and urinal piping

Signage fitting

Windows

Cleaning gutters

Scaffolding

Window blinds etc

Improve and maintain good housekeeping standards.

Ensure work areas are tidy. Clean up after work

Proper completion of job cards.

Adhering to and enforcing works and safety procedures.

Plant safety and safe working

Adhere to safety legislation and safe working practices.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

At least

5 years working experience

in building maintenance or service/ utilities environment with experience in water reticulation and plumbing, building work,including painting, work, plastering and carpentry

COMPETENCIES

Able to work independently

Able to supervisor a handyman job.

Able to independently plan and coordinate a maintenance task.

Knowledge of plant safety.

Ability to work with limited supervision.

Good timekeeping

Supervise a handyman

Integrity and honesty.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12

Driver Licence

A building related qualification or attended courses or practical will be an advantage.
