Our client, in the commercial fishing industry is seeking a Maintenance Operator to join their team on a contract basis for 3 monthsThe Maintenance Operator will be responsible for the mechanical operation and repairs. Completion of planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities for all plant and equipment and for the day-to-day monitoring of controls / systems in the factory.Location: Port Elizabeth/GqeberhaJob type: On-site - 3 months contractDuties and Responsibilities

• Record keeping and completing job cards
• Complete equipment checks sheets as per manufactures requirements
• Complete projects in the expected time frame.
• Making schedules, assigning work and training employees.
• Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment, compliance with mechanical codes and adherence to safety regulation
• Supervise junior team members.
• Responsible for mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and services
• Report to maintenance manager any incidents
• Ensure good housekeeping and attend to breakdowns.
• Ensure adequate inventory, prioritize purchases, prepare cost estimates, and document all purchases.
• Liaise with maintenance manager and contractors and resolve any matters arising.
• Follow up corrective actions and implement counter measures to minimize reoccurrence of faults
• Maintain effective Health and Safety systems, including completion of risk assessments method statements and toolbox talks where appropriate

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• N2 Mechanical
• 8 -10 years' experience in the mechanical field
• Fitter - Semiskilled
• Valid Driver's License - Advantageous
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and related universal best practices
• Knowledge of bearings and lubricants
• Knowledge in light/medium machinery
• Knowledge in basic welding and fabrication and maintenance planning
• Knowledge of legislative and industry protocols and regulations that apply in maintenance
• Knowledge in Problem solving and Fault finding
• Knowledge of Prisma Maintenance system
