Job Description


To plan, organise, manage and control investigations relating to the Electricity Unit's network and infrastructure theft and illegal connections daily.
Key Responsibility Areas

  • Identifies areas within eThekwini Municipality most adversely affected by theft of infrastructure, assesses the financial impact of network theft to both the Municipality and the local economy.
  • Develops and implements an Integrated "Network Theft Management Framework" and
develops, trains and leads a competent team of Investigators and Network Theft Officers.
  • Creates customer awareness on the negative impact of infrastructure and asset theft on both the society and the Municipality.
  • Reviews investigation planning memoranda, investigation working paper files and reports for completeness.
  • Monitors and reviewing progress of investigations/projects under investigation and reviews
status reports.
  • Executes highly sensitive investigations and prepares status reports in light thereof relating to infrastructure/asset theft.
  • Sets performance operational standards of the Infrastructure/Asset Theft Sections team
members in consultation with the Senior Manager Business Risk Control.
  • Liaises with Law Enforcement Agencies, PA and other stake-holders other parastatals to
formulate and implement strategies to curb infrastructure and asset theft.
  • Manages, develops and monitors the performance and conduct of the Business Risk Control
staff.
  • Facilitates the institution of criminal, disciplinary hearings and civil recovery process and gives evidence in court, misconduct enquiries, commission of enquiries etc.

Essential Requirements
  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Forensic Investigation or Policing or Security Management
specialising in Investigations or any other related and equivalent qualification.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • Valid Firearm License Permit/Certificate.
  • Peace Officer Certificate or be able to obtain it within 1 year from date of appointment
  • 5 years relevant experience of which 2 years must be at a supervisory level.
  • Computer Literacy.
Preferred Requirements
  • Degree (NQF Level 7) in Forensic Investigation or Policing or Security Management
specialising in Investigations or any other related and equivalent qualification.
  • 6 years relevant experience of which 3 years must be at a supervisory level.
