Job Description


Type of Position: Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced candidates to fill the above vacancy in the Office of the MD & Administration - Legal & Compliance Department. and Responsibilities: Supporting the NSO (National Sales Organisation) in all Legal matters, to find the most effective solutions for the business. Drafting and finalising various commercial agreements including, but not limited to, goods/services being provided, sponsorships/trade exchanges, training, funding/grants, loans and sales. Providing legal and business advice as well as support in order to ensure that the company's Organisational Directives are complied with and that the NSO complies with legislation relevant to the day-to-day operations. Participating in specialist committees to promote synergies within the organisation and in relation to consultants on a pro-active basis. Representing the company at the NAAMSA legal forum on matters of common interest, specifically new legislation, without competition law implications arising. Overseeing and managing litigation / alternative dispute resolution proceedings initiated by or instituted against the company with support from external legal practitioners. Supporting the Integrity, Risk and Compliance Department as and when necessary. Identifying training requirements relevant to the various fields of law and Group directives and presenting the relevant training. Ensuring that in all activities of the Legal & Compliance Division, its representatives act ethically to uphold and promote the reputation of the company in every respect. Supporting Corporate & Government Affairs Department in relation to interactions with the authorities. Remaining abreast of legal developments in general and specifically within the motor industry. Education and Experience: Bachelor of Laws (LLB). Postgraduate qualification in various fields of Commercial Law recommended. Articles. Admission as an Attorney/Advocate. Minimum 8 -10 years' work experience in commercial law (post admission) or a minimum of 8 years relevant working experience, preferably in the automotive or related industries Skills, Attributes & Other requirements ESSENTIAL: A good understanding of commercial and contract law in general, specifically the law in relation to Competition, Consumer Protection, B-BBEE, and Protection of Personal Information. Knowledge of the legislative framework affecting the Motor Industry and Business in general. Knowledge of Intellectual Property Legislation (e.g. Trade Mark, Copyright and Design) will be an advantage. Good analytical and decision-making skills. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to perform under pressure. Ability to deal with cultural diversity. Computer literacy.
