Key Responsibilities:Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture. Operate machines / equipment in accordance with safe work instructions. Adhere to safety and housekeeping as per company procedures and OHS Act requirements including its associated regulations. Production: Maintain the safety of all melting systems and processes at Weir HBF and implement world class safety practices as guided by the Health and Safety Department and Senior Management. Ensure that the Foundry complies to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act85:1993). Implement and improve on world class error proofing and quality control systems to prevent defects from reaching the customers. Maintain the Melting expense budget, including manning calculations, shift control, over-time control and raw material costs. Supervise, develop and motivate staff. Responsible for the Metallurgical and physical integrity of all materials poured and/or heat-treated. Management of critical spares and consumables. Manage and achieve daily production targets.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in metallurgy and/or ten years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiar with casting Hyper Chrome, Ultra Chrome, Manganese, and Steel. Competence in Spectro and various melting equipment operations. Knowledge of patternmaking, methoding, physical metallurgy, and/or heat treatment of ferrous alloys. Valid driver's license. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
