Reference No. CV151Reference Number: CV151:Our client, a reputable and diversified mining company, is looking for a Manager of Resource Estimation to join their team at their corporate headquarters in Johannesburg. This role is responsible for supporting the Resource & Reserve (R&R) reporting process while ensuring adherence to best practices for Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves, in alignment with company policies and industry regulations. Serving as a key liaison, this position bridges the gap between the R&R Coordinators (and Competent Persons) and the Mineral Resources team.Responsibilities:

  • Foster a strong safety culture with authorized systems to ensure all employees and contractors operate in a risk-controlled environment, prioritizing zero harm and fatality elimination.
  • Develop and support Mineral Resource estimates, applying geostatistical best practices to maximize value and improve accuracy.
  • Coordinate resource estimation outputs for Platinum underground mines and joint ventures, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Conduct pilot studies to test and implement improvements in resource estimation, maintaining high standards for data quality and model accuracy.
  • Ensure consistent application of resource estimation best practices across the group, aligning all activities with leading industry standards.
  • Mentor resource estimation specialists, contribute to improved Ore Control estimation approaches, assist with R&R report preparation, and act as a Competent Person when required.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing, purpose-driven team that fosters inclusivity, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and oversee compliance governance, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Minimum: Bachelors Degree in Geosciences
  • 710 years of experience in resource estimation for underground operations.
  • Expertise in geostatistics, including Ordinary Kriging, Uniform Conditioning, and conditional simulation.
  • Strong knowledge of Bushveld Complex platinum deposits, with a general understanding of bulk materials, base/precious metals, and diamonds.
  • Deep understanding of geological controls on mineralization
  • Expertise in sampling, assaying, QAQC processes, and geometallurgical characteristics for spatial estimation.
  • Familiarity with mining and processing methods such as flotation and pyrometallurgy to optimize resource estimates.
  • Strong knowledge of Resource and Reserve reporting standards (SAMREC) and familiarity with JORC and NI 43-101.
  • Proficient in GMP software (preferably Datamine), with working knowledge of Python and Leapfrog.
  • Skilled in systematic problem-solving, risk identification, and statistical analysis to develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to generate and implement innovative resource estimation solutions that optimize value and mitigate risks.
