Job Description


Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) has an exciting opportunity in our Manufacturing and Technical department. We are looking for a talented individual with relevant skills and experience for a Manufacturing Manager role, which is based in Polokwane. The successful candidate will report directly to the Regional Manufacturing Manager. To manage, lead and support the team so that manufacturing, quality and maintenance targets are achieved in the most cost effective and efficient manner to meet customer service objectives through stock availability and to ensure a productive, engaged workforce.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Develop And Execute Strategy.

  • Interprets and uses relevant strategies to build business cases for improvement opportunities
  • Develops and documents strategy execution plans, and communicates to secure commitment to these
  • Manages effective implementation of the execution plan
  • Takes action to prevent deviation to plan.
Manage Performance to Target
  • Status of progress in Production (including all Key Performance Indicators) is communicated clearly
  • Takes appropriate corrective action when deviations to target performance are timeously identified
  • Uses the operational excellence agenda and Key Performance Indicator trends to maximize production performance.
  • Corrects sub-target performance in production
  • Manages by 'walking about' to keep physical aspects of production operations clearly 'in the mind' and witness issues/problems 'first-hand';
  • Manages to ensure that the 'current status numbers' of performance are clearly known at all times by all key individual managers and team leaders.
Manage Productivity
  • Minimise waste
o Raw material and manufacturing and process sundry usage optimised.
o Opportunities for improvement identified and improvement plans prioritised and implemented
o Activity based costing principles embraced via effective departmental structure.
  • Control fixed and variable cost
o Departmental goals and action plans developed and aligned to a reduction of Total Cost of Manufacturing.
o Departmental expenditure and usages regularly monitored.
o Continuous improvement on departmental targets managed.
  • Lead the world class manufacturing drive
o Lead the implementation of the CCBA Manufacturing way
o Translate and implement Packaging, Manufacturing and Business strategies
o Continuous improvement with respect to management processes and philosophies demonstrated.
  • Ensure Stock availability
o Customer first focus: Ensure no Out of stocks on all products
o Engages the Logistics Manager to ensure production plans optimise efficiency whilst ensuring inventory model stocks are maintained
o Manages production plans to meet the plants Supply Route Matrix obligations

Manage Human Resources
  • Education, training and development needs of employees analysed according to best practices.
  • Career development processes are directed and managed.
  • Ensure the implementation of the Performance management way
  • Ensure the implementation of the talent management way
  • Maintain a sound professional relationship with the labour union
  • Be an energising leader, motivational and inspirational
  • Strategic Human Resource requirements are identified and appropriate direction provided, including the obligations to CCBSA's pipe line development commitments
  • Recruitment, selection and induction procedurally and fairly applied.
  • Conditions of employment are consistently and fairly applied.
  • IR initiatives, policies, procedures and agreements are communicated for application, and applied.
Stakeholder engagement
  • Work with The Public Affairs and Communications department to engage stakeholders
  • Ensure commitment to employee volunteerism
  • Build sound relationship with local government and utilities providers
  • Build a relationship with Suppliers
Manage Plant, Process and Systems
  • Ensure process and equipment integrity
o Cost effective management processes established.
o Formal Failure Analysis techniques entrenched.
o Overall maintenance management system implemented and sustained using TPM/RCM principles.
o Process capability studies carried out in order that optimal operation of systems is ensured.
o Production support systems development led.
o Drive technical skills capability programs.
o Where capital expenditure is required to address shortcomings in process capabilities, the appropriate procedures are followed to carry out cost justifications

Manage and Co-ordinate Packaging logistics
  • Capacity plans developed.
  • Optimum capacity utilisation ensured while minimising stock held as days of cover.
  • Operating Standards with central planning agreed.
  • Optimisation of scheduling of materials and packaging activities managed.
  • Manage new product development protocol for both packaging materials and products

Skills, Experience & Education BSc Engineering/ BTech Engineering/ BEng
  • MBA or MBL Advantageous
  • 8 to 10 years production, technical and leadership experience in a FMCG environment
