We have an incredible opportunity for a
Mechatronics Project Manager
at
I&J Trawling Division
in the
Waterfront
,
Cape Town
. In this role, you will be responsible for project planning, executing, and closing off of projects at I&J Trawlers. Provide technical support to vessel superintendents on vessel electronics, control systems and remote monitoring systems.

Key Areas of Impact:
Project Planning
Determine the project scope of work
Present Business Case Proposals
Determine the budget and communicate to various internal stakeholders
Submit tender documentation to the various potential service providers
Evaluate quotes for completeness, accuracy and cost
Liaise with the procurement department to allocate the winning tenders
Draw up a project plan
Do a stakeholder analysis
Setup a Quality Control Plan (QCP) for the evolution, where required
Assist the Asset Care Manager (ACM) to setup the project commissioning checklist
Project Execution
Drive the take-on meeting with various contractor stakeholders
Attend daily project update and planning meetings
Submit a daily status reports on project costs and schedule
Control the coordination of the work schedule
Manage the allocated project team assets
Liaise with ACM on QCP and maintenance items, where and when required
Ensure the sign off on relevant QCP documents
Sign on any approved variation orders and communicate the deviation of costs as it arises
Re-commissioning all systems on boards with a commission checklist
Project Close off
Ensure all commissioning and documentation is in place, signed off and filed
Records of QCP and final costs to be captured and submitted
Sign off stakeholders, where relevant
All contractors paid and work closed with delivered submission of a consolidated project report service reports
Technical Support
Support Vessel Superintendents in analysing and resolving electronics issues reported by the vessels.
Initiate and maintain communication with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM's) during the process of fault finding and resolving issues.
Draft technical reports and briefs for equipment failures at the request of engineering management.
What It Takes to Succeed:
Experience that set you up for success:
Minimum 3 year Project Management experience with Marine exposure
Qualifications & Certifications that will contribute to your success:
BSc/BEng Mechatronics or BSc/BEng Electrical & Electronics qualification or equivalent is required.
Professional certifications in Project Management, Marine Engineering or Mechanical engineering would be advantageous
Additional Requirements that will enhance your impact for success:
