Join Roche, where every voice matters.The PositionWe are currently seeking a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) qualified candidate (preferred) with experience in the Pharmaceutical industry for an exciting opportunity as a Medical Enabler in our Johannesburg office.The Medical Enabler is a therapeutic area expert who supports the Primary Point of Contact (Customer Facing team) in the relevant Therapy Area. They provide medical and scientific expertise independent of promotional objectives and collaborate with the Primary Point of Contact to understand patient journeys and area ecosystem needs. They enable co-creation and delivery of national-level activities that bring value to the medical community and transform clinical practice. The Medical Enabler develops broad medical and scientific expertise across multiple molecules or indications within a Therapy Area and drives evidence generation and scientific exchange. They are a core member of Therapeutic Area aligned PODS and maintain strong relationships with Therapeutic Area Experts for national-level initiatives.Key ChallengesCross Functional -

  • Contribute to and drive solutions for work packages generated, these may be ecosystem related, internally generated or may relate to foundational / License to Operate procedures, amongst others.
  • Cultivate and enhance collaboration and coordination across the formal and informal network - in country , across countries or as seen relevant to serve patients across the enterprise.
Disease Area -
  • Be the custodian of assigned Therapeutic Area data, ensuring credible scientific communication dissemination.
  • Support development and execution of patient-focused medical strategies for assigned Roche therapies.
  • Determine appropriateness of labels, regulatory material, and medical deliverables for internal and external interactions.
  • Provide valuable insights and solutions for scientific engagement across collaborators.
  • Support Primary Point of Contact relationships with external healthcare community for scientific exchange.
  • Develop and lead evidence generation projects in response to the ecosystem.
  • Contribute to medical activities and solutions in response to ecosystem needs.
  • Respond to unsolicited queries from Healthcare Providers and provide up-to-date scientific data.
  • Support Regulatory Teams with medical expertise for product review and submission preparation.
  • Facilitate Investigator Initiated Studies and manage patient eligibility for Compassionate Usage program.
  • Provide inputs into outcomes-based planning and leverage Global network for solutions.
  • Provide input on IME, medical grants, and sponsorships.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and SOPs.
  • Develop Roche's reputation as a science-based, innovative, and patient-focused partner.
  • Contribute to portfolio, disease area, and molecule strategy.
  • Gain understanding in new disease areas and evaluate potential across countries.
  • Develop relationships and networks with external stakeholders.
  • Work with Therapeutic Area Experts, HCPs, and PAGs in compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Supports the affiliates with the entry into new diseases areas in which the affiliates have limited or no experience. Assist in generating an in-depth understanding of the healthcare ecosystem in new disease areas in defined countries or affiliates.
Who you are as our ideal candidate:
  • You have completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) qualification. Alternatively you have a degree in Life Science or similar.
  • You have at least 3 - 5 years experience in the Pharmaceutical environment in a similar role.
  • You have an experienced skill set in Data generation (clinical trials; IIS, RWE programs) and you have an understanding of clinical trial design, interpretation and biostatistics.
  • Other requirements: Ability and willingness to travel.
