To provide primary clinical care and treatment to patients and research participants with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, HIV, sleep disorders, and obesity
To offer technical advice and support to the Ezintsha team and other stakeholders, including training, mentoring, referrals, and data management

Ezintsha - Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas:
Examine, treat, and refer patients with non-communicable diseases according to clinical protocols and guidelines
Ensure the inclusion of appropriate patients in clinical care programmes
Treat comorbid conditions as diagnosed and prescribe appropriate treatments
Follow up and report adverse events as per treatment guidelines or protocol, within applicable timelines
Liaise with the laboratory regarding the interpretation of laboratory results
Ensure appropriate management plans are followed for all abnormal lab results
Data collection and storage according to GCP and study SOPs
Recruitment and retention according to set targets as required by sponsors
Ensure and strengthen team capacity building in the area of NCD
Participate in the development and review of guidelines, SOPs and other research material
Provide support to clinical staff to ensure high quality patient care
Assist in writing of grant proposals, concept notes, protocols and ethics applications for new research studies
Implement research studies as part of a team
Participate in ongoing mentorship programmes initiated by other Ezintsha stakeholders
Compile reports on different aspects of clinical care, including adverse events, pregnancies, etc.
Electronic data cap on CRFs and patient logs
Proactively resolve protocol queries and missing data
Participate in programme audits
Compile and submit reports to Programme Managers for submission to donors
Participate in compiling documents to showcase Ezintsha's work
Attend meetings and participate in organisational events and initiatives in line with the role where required
Act as a point of contact for the clinical site, partner organisations, donors and internally where appropriate
Communicate with all levels of Ezintsha staff around inputs, outputs and activities
Provide feedback to internal and external stakeholders where required
Required minimum education and training:
MBBCh Degree
Required minimum work experience:
Minimum 2 years' experience in primary care or family medicine
Professional body registration:
Health Professions Council of South Africa
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:
Certification in Family Medicine, or Diabetes Management, Obesity Management, Sleep Medicine or HIV Management would be desirable
Experience working in a family physician or general practice or primary care setting as well as donor-funded organisation/NGO or project-based environment would be an asset
Attention to detail, systematic in approach to tasks
Proactive, able to exercise discretion and independent decision-making
Able to prioritise own workload and work towards deadlines
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary primary care team
Proficiency in speaking other African languages
Organizational and administrative skills, electronical data capturing and with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience writing donor proposals and protocols
Understanding and/or experience in mentoring and training desirable
