Job Description


A Global Pharmaceutical company has a vacancy for a Medical Representative, to detail and market their Respiratory portfolio to ENTs, Pulmonologists, GPs, Dispensing Doctors and selected pharmacies for the KZN Coastal Region.The representative will be responsible for Doctor Detailing:

  • Responsible for planning and promoting the products as given by the company in order to achieve set sales targets within the region
  • Seek opportunities for growth in the allocated region
  • Building strong relationships with Doctors, CMEs and attending congresses
  • Servicing smaller pharmacies close to practices
Key Job Functions:

  • Servicing Dispensing practices
  • Promoting products to Targeted Doctors - ENTs, Pulmonologists, General Practitioners
  • Liaise and persuade targeted doctors to prescribe company products utilising effective selling skills and performing cost-benefit analysis
  • Selling and promoting against sales targets and achieving territory plan objectives
  • Implementation and execution of value-added programs across the territory, CMEs
  • Responsible for hospital pharmacies, smaller pharmacies / in practice pharmacies like Medicross to promote your products, making sure when the script gets dispensed that it is captured, ensuring no out-of-stock
  • Territory management and developing a routine call cycle for all customers within the allocated territory
  • Build relationships with target customers to enhance product knowledge and gain product endorsement in order to generate sales
  • Ensure all target customers are fully informed of the product range, correct product application /dosages by means of regular training and one-on-one detailing
  • General admin: Consolidating monthly expenses, weekly call planner and feedback on infield activities to Regional Sales Manager
  • Travel to defined geographies to promote products
  • Organizing appointments and meetings with targeted pharmacies and Doctors
  • Identifying and establishing new businesses in your area
  • Monitor and analyse data and market conditions to identify competitive advantage
  • Meeting both the business and scientific needs of the healthcare professional
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problem, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management
  • Reviewing sales performance in monthly reviews and present territory
  • Attend company meetings, technical data presentation and briefings
  • Servicing Dispensing Doctor practices on monthly basis or as frequently as needed

Minimum experience & qualifications required:
  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Science/ Sales and Marketing or business
  • At least 3- 5 years of Healthcare/ Respiratory Pharmaceutical experience essential
  • Valid Drivers license and own vehicle
