  • Create a safety culture through productive and authorized operational systems/processes that allow all employees (including contracting partners) to provide their outputs in a risk-controlled environment. Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
Performance and Delivery
  • Value stream / business process mapping of operational processes.
  • Value chain analysis within Mining / Processing to identify the dominant constraint & improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate, formulate and initiate strategies/initiatives to identify improvement opportunities to close gap between OMS output and required operational performance.
  • Define KPIs (Purpose & theory) and implement a measurement system to measure the Stability & Capability of the defined KPI's and process performance.
  • Initiate, support and improve business improvement and system related training for users supported by value adding A&I sessions (also known as RCA).
  • Facilitate, guide or visualise KPIs on various systems.
  • Implement business improvement projects and verify the claimed value add, forming the foundations of structured BI programmes, ensure that benefits are formalised, documented and sustained.
  • Identify workflow and business process requirements and related solutions over a complete business process, including obtaining approvals, documentation, testing and training.
  • Track & monitor implementation and effectiveness of control actions.
  • Facilitate required management routines to drive control action accountability within line management.
  • Facilitate and drive the adoption of Six Sigma and Lean principles on site.
  • Investigate new technologies and identify possible future system improvements.

Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance to Anglo American internal and external compliance (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements.
This role is at a GBF 6 level reporting to the Specialist BIQualifications
  • Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or chemistry degree/diploma
  • Six-Sigma and Lean qualification will be advantageous.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years' experience in the Mining, Process or Maintenance Engineering field within the Mining / Processing Industry.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Relevant AA Operating Model specific training & operational experience (OP, Work Management & Feedback) will be advantageous
  • Mining / Processing value chain core operations understanding
  • Systems development and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of Information Technology Systems will be advantageous (PowerBI, Python, SQL, Tableau, etc.)
  • Key value drivers within discipline's value chain and interdependence of key levers
  • Principles of how operational processes are classified according to the Operating Model
  • Advanced knowledge of business improvement/optimisation and best practice benchmarking
  • Advanced in Analyse & Improve / Six-Sigma / Business improvement tools and techniques
  • Advanced skill in control charts & Capability Histogram software
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Proficient skill in Facilitation & working with multi-cultural teams
  • Business acumen and commercial drivers of site performance
  • Basic financial metrics & budgeting tools
