Job Description
:A client in the perishables industry requires a Microbiologist to perform laboratory testing on food, dairy and environmental samples. Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you would support senior staff in the smooth functioning of the lab. This is a permanent position based in-office Monday to Friday 8am - 4.30pm with rostered overtime on weekdays and weekends. R20 000 per month.Responsibilities:
- Analyse food and environmental samples for microbiological analytes (both hygiene / quality indicators and pathogens).
- Identify microbial isolates using appropriate stain, biochemical and serological means.
- Analyse milk and other dairy samples for quality and hygiene factors
- Record, analyse and interpret results and data.
- Assist in validation and / or verification of methods.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Ensure all equipment is appropriately verified, calibrated and / or serviced.
- Continuously maintain LMS and requirements of ISO 17025 requirements and any other statutory bodies.
- Remain up to date with scientific and research developments within your field.
- As directed by the Laboratory Director, any additional tasks which may be required to support the laboratory operations.
- Manage laboratory assistants and technicians
