Mobile and Industrial Device TechnicianReports to: Technical ManagerRole Summary:The Mobile and Industrial Device Technician is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and configuration of a range of handheld computers, vehicle mount computers, and industrial label printers. The role requires a high level of technical proficiency and diagnostic capability, as well as the ability to work independently and manage customer interactions effectively.Key Responsibilities:

• Perform hardware repairs up to board level on handheld computers (Honeywell, Zebra, Datalogic), vehicle mount computers (Honeywell VM1), and industrial thermal transfer label printers (Honeywell PM43, Zebra ZT410).
• Conduct firmware upgrades on handheld computers and reprogram new main boards after replacement.
• Diagnose and resolve faults on scanners and label printers with strong diagnostic skills.
• Execute preventative maintenance on mobility equipment at customer locations.
• Respond to callouts to diagnose and repair faulty mobility equipment.
• Service industrial label printers at customer sites.
• Stage and configure new mobile devices for customer deployment.
• Complete workshop repairs within specified Service Level Agreement (SLA) timeframes.
• Undertake new installations and configure devices for sales demonstrations as needed.
• Utilize barcode label printing software (Bartender, Nice Label) and application software (Velocity for Android, Terminal Emulator).
• Accurately complete all required documentation.
• Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in hardware repairs up to board level, specifically with the mentioned devices.
• Proficiency in 2.4 and 5 GHz network environments.
• Matric (Grade 12) and A+ certification or Diploma in Information Technology.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Experience with firmware upgrades, reprogramming main boards, and diagnosing equipment faults.
• Competency in staging and configuring new mobile devices.
• Experience in servicing industrial label printers at customer locations.

• Fluency in English; proficiency in a second language is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Self-motivated with a strong enthusiasm for the role.
• Proven ability to handle customer interactions professionally in various situations.
• Reliable and possesses own transportation.
