We are hiring an Modelling Actuary to join our team and contribute to our company's modelling functions. The role will primarily focus on both traditional actuarial modelling, such as pricing and reserving, and newer methods like machine learning techniques. Additionally, the chosen candidate will be responsible for maintaining and updating our modelling environment. Researching and exploring topics related to new technologies and modelling methods will also be an important part of the role, with the aim of implementing these models in the broader short-term business environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
Completion of all the A100 - A400 Actuarial exams
3 years' experience in the short-term insurance industry
Experience in short-term insurance pricing
Responsibilities:
Collect and clean data from various sources, including databases, websites, and other relevant sources, using tools such as SQL and Python.
Analyze and interpret data using statistical and machine learning techniques, such as generalized linear models (GLMs), decision trees, clustering and neural networks.
Build and maintain predictive models under supervision.
Communicate findings effectively through technical reports and presentations to stakeholders in the business.
Deploy, test, validate, and maintain machine learning models in production.
Contribute to the modelling components of traditional actuarial functions, such as pricing and reserving.
Perform ad hoc modelling and analysis as required by business stakeholders.
Relevant skills:
Competence in programming languages like Python, for automation and modeling. Database management (SQL) experience will be an advantage.
Analyze and interpret data using statistical and machine learning techniques, such as generalized linear models (GLMs), decision trees, clustering and neural networks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in interpreting data and developing insights.
Experience with data visualization (Power BI) to effectively communicate findings through visualizations and graphs.
Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to provide insights and feedback to business stakeholders.
Good time-management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
Proven ability to lead own initiatives and collaborate effectively
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for explaining technical concepts clearly.
