A leading and stable chemical company requires a suitably qualified Continuous Improvement Engineer in Kempton Park.
Purpose of the job
The Continuous Improvement Engineer reports to the Finance Director and is responsible to create a channel between Business (customer), Finance (customer) and IT (service provider) which will align business processes and IT systems. The CIE is responsible to ensure the use of best practice principles within the organization, support strategic development and assist with the implementation of projects.
The incumbent will ensure that business processes are optimized, documented and supported by policies, processes, and procedures. The incumbent will ensure that these are maintained to pro-actively and effectively identify and manage risk within the company.
Experience
5-10 years Experience in business processes and system designs
Qualifications:
Matric
Degree in Engineering or a similar Degree
Technical Competencies
Computer literacy: Advanced Excel
SAP ERP knowledge
Excellent understanding of business processes and design
Chemical or similar manufacturing background
Knowledge of chemical or similar manufacturing technology.
Key performance area
Financial Application Management
Support the finance applications management strategy in alignment to Finance objectives and business plan
Implement and drive the strategy once approved by the Finance Director
Introduce SAP best practice and process improvement ideas wherever appropriate
Align SAP and business processes to ensure accurate depiction of the business processes in SAP
Investigate solutions to implement and close out all relevant Audit findings and recommendations
Suggest business / system processes to enforce adherence to internal and external Audit controls as it pertains to the business processes in the SAP environment
Support the planned execution of the solutions’ technical roadmap and ongoing support, maintenance and enhancements of IT
Obtain industry best practice knowledge for SAP system technology processes and best practices and communicate to operations
Manage business process owners and act as interface between the business, Finance and IT to ensure initiatives are delivered
Brief stakeholders on all aspects of integrated design for approved and ongoing initiatives
Ensure the integrity of all projects, reports and systems outputs for auditing purposes and decision making
Project Management
Manage the expectations from operations and stakeholders for business process projects
Lead project management meetings with the business to establish the business needs
Collaborate with business teams to prioritize projects, identify business risk and communicate with IT to align priorities between departments
Determine the optimal implementation date
Prepare the business project requirements and project scope and submit for approval
Provide IT and Operations with an approved project plan and scope of work
Communicate project budget to IT and align budget with business expectations
Liaise with IT on progress updates, project testing, scope amendments and project changes
Monitor and track project and update stakeholders
Apply principles of best practice and industry norms
Sustainability Contribution to Organization
Establish a Centre of Excellence “CoE” by achieving On Plan, On Budget, On Value projects to business
Obtain a very good understanding of organizational processes and the integration into SAP, including core understanding of the individual SAP modules
Suggest best practice and industry norms throughout support to organization
Identify key talent in organization to support CoE objectives and to develop and grow various business areas
Maintain critical master data and facilitate organizational departments in maintaining sub areas of the master data
Reporting
Develop dashboards relevant to support business decisions
Report on business sustaining activities (i.e., SAP enhancement projects)
Provide detailed reporting on running projects
Develop BI reports and create a platform of value-added reports or the organization
People Interaction and Relationship Management
Establish a strong organizational trust relationship between IT and Business to achieve NCP goals
Align strategic goals between IT and Business through the support and assistance of the Finance Business Partner
Co-ordinate meetings between departments to achieve deliverables
Build a productive project team through effective relationship management
Continuously improve through development, support seeking, mentoring and training

Other details:
Salary: R650K basic salary per annum negotiable depending on experience.
