Experience Experience RequiredIntroductionWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mortgage/Credit Manager to lead the Further Lending Department and ensure efficient daily operations. The successful candidate will uphold compliance with credit policies and procedures, drive operational efficiencies, and ensure that client expectations are met as per Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage escalated client queries, and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including IT, to optimize lending processes.DescriptionMaximizing Productivity and Department Efficiencies

  • Oversee and manage application workflow, ensuring optimal turnaround times.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures, mitigating risk effectively.
  • Develop and drive campaigns to increase loan disbursements and enhance client engagement.
People Management & Leadership
  • Set clear standards, objectives, and performance goals for the team.
  • Lead by example and provide hands-on management to ensure a motivated and high-performing team.
  • Manage training and development initiatives to enhance staff capabilities.
Operational Management of Further Lending Processes
  • Conduct regular team meetings to ensure updates, motivation, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Oversee staff resourcing to meet departmental needs and maintain efficiency.
  • Stay updated on market trends and competitor offerings to keep lending solutions competitive.
Daily System & Process Management
  • Analyze workflow data, identify delays and variances, and take corrective actions.
  • Oversee approval processes, including re-advances, admin changes, and fund disbursements.
  • Manage declined applications, providing recommendations and justifications for exceptions.
  • Ensure 100% quality assurance and adherence to SLAs.
Client Complaints & Resolution Management
  • Monitor complaints and decline trends, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Collaborate with management to improve service levels and resolve client concerns.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of mortgage products, lending policies, and financial regulations.
Client Retention & Relationship Management
  • Implement strategies to reduce loan declines and retain clients.
  • Work closely with clients to identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Analyze retention metrics, report on client trends, and recommend improvement strategies.
  • Foster a culture of exceptional customer service and ensure seamless collaboration across departments.
System & IT Support
  • Oversee system testing and work closely with IT teams on workflow enhancements (e.g., Salesforce, HALO, Legal Document systems).
Strategic & Financial Management
  • Drive department budget targets and align strategies with business goals.
  • Ensure alignment with service excellence principles and overall business strategy.
Education Profile
  • Matric (Required)
  • Preferred: Further education in the Financial Services Industry, preferably in Mortgage Lending
Experience:
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in a similar role (Mortgage Lending, Credit Management, or Financial Services).
  • Proven experience in leading a credit/lending team, ensuring compliance, and optimizing lending processes.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, financial regulations, and loan approval processes.
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • High attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Ability to manage escalations and client complaints effectively
  • Solid understanding of credit risk and compliance
  • Experience with financial systems and IT workflows
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
