Job Description


Purpose of the Role:The National Treasurer manages the company's cash flow, banking, and financial risk. This role ensures theres enough cash to run the business, helps reduce financial risks, and supports the companys financial goals.Key Responsibilities:1. Cash and Liquidity Management

  • Monitor daily cash flow to ensure the company can meet its expenses.
  • Forecast and manage cash needs.
  • Approve payments to suppliers and manage internal transfers.
  • Oversee credit cards, procurement cards, and petty cash.
2. Treasury Operations
  • Manage bank accounts and relationships.
  • Ensure treasury processes follow policies and are cost-effective.
  • Use treasury and ERP systems effectively.
3. Shipping Oversight
  • Lead the shipping team and review costings.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of goods in transit and reconcile accounts.
  • Manage month-end closures and make sure all invoices and revaluations are captured correctly.
4. Risk Management and Compliance
  • Identify and reduce risks like foreign exchange and credit risks.
  • Arrange letters of credit and foreign exchange cover.
  • Make sure all processes follow legal and company standards.
  • Maintain good relationships with banks.
5. Investments and Funding
  • Suggest ways to invest extra cash wisely.
  • Handle company loans and ensure loan terms are followed.
  • Recommend cost-effective financing options.
6. Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and support the Treasury and Cashbook team.
  • Set goals and performance standards for the team.
  • Build a positive and productive team culture.
7. Financial Reporting
  • Prepare reports on cash flow and financial risks.
  • Work with finance to ensure accurate planning and reporting.
  • Help close monthly accounts and review financial reports.
  • Liaise with shareholders on key financial matters.
Requirements: Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar.
  • Postgraduate qualification (CIMA, CFA, CA(SA), or MBA) is a plus.
Experience:
  • 710 years in treasury, cash management, or corporate finance.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or related industries is ideal.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of treasury, risk management, and banking.
  • Comfortable using treasury systems, ERP tools (e.g., Kerridge), and Excel.
  • Familiar with South African financial regulations.

Team Structure:Manages 5 administrators and 1 supervisor.
