To support the Nuclear Safeguards function through performing verification measurements, laboratory tests and experiments for determining the Uranium/Thorium/Plutonium content of nuclear material by utilising various non-destructive analysis (NDA) equipment and related software, to ensure that nuclear facilities declarations to Nuclear Safeguards are correct.
Key Performance Areas
Identify nuclide, characterize and verify measurements using different non-destructive analysis (NDA) techniques.
Conduct NDA investigation on illicit trafficking material.
Ensuring safe and proper storage and handling of samples collected from facilities.
Record and file measurement data and update the relevant measurement database.
Maintaining the equipment inventory data base to ensure tracking and movement of NDA equipment.
Record and track movement of NDA equipment.
Ensure proper maintenance of NDA equipment.
Report defect on all NDA equipment to the Manager: Technical support (or delegated)
Oversee utilization of NDA equipment and calibration thereof in line with relevant procedures
Ensure safe and proper storage and maintenance of sealed radioactive source is used for calibrating and testing of NDA equipment.
Develop and review standard operating procedure for all NDA equipment.
Develop working instruction.
Develop calibration procedure.
Develop and review training manual.
Monitor evaluation as per schedule.
Attend technical meetings with International Forum and keep abreast with the latest international trends.
Write and present NDA safeguards research papers for publication at international meetings and conferences.
KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Understanding and application of basic NDA principles and techniques.
Understanding of the chemistry and physics of nuclear materials.
Sound knowledge of radiation detection instruments and neutron detectors.
Knowledge of the IAEA Safeguards Principles and associated legislation
Extended knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle.
Knowledge in one or more NDA techniques.
Knowledge of MS Office.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
National Diploma in Physical Science.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year - 2 years of experience in Non-Destructive Assay
Training as operator on NDA instrument will be an added advantage
