Closing Date: 15/04/2024Purpose:Strategic partner to Snr management to ensure that safety leadership is lived throughout the organization. To ensure overall group compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act 85 of 1993, as well as related legislation, by-laws and regulations, and relevant Policies. Embed safety within the culture and the DNA of the business.Key Responsibilities:Health & SafetyDevelop strategy and policy implementationDevelop plans to take the Business unit to a SHEQ Resilience Status site. Implement the Business Unit's strategy and plans for all dimensions of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ), Security and wellness (including ICAS) at the allocated site. Ensure full compliance to legislation and policies such as safety related appointments, investigations, and audits.Acts as Management Nominee and effectively collaborates with the OpCo structures to achieve objectives.Ensure that the OpCo adheres to Occupational Health & Safety regulatory requirements, as well as related policies across Functional Areas and Distribution Channels.Ensures Occupational Health & Safety structures are established and maintained in line with OpCo requirements.Operationalize and ensures execution of the Health & Safety Strategy, including assessing, monitoring and reporting to the relevant committees for oversight.Manages and takes responsibility for emergency preparedness practice and communication.Send out monthly updated branch list for updates and training requirements. Send training requests to Vendor (First-Aid/H&S Rep/Fire reps). Attend to booking, PO's, payment and confirmations to attendees. Ensure delivery of Certificates and courier to regionsLegal ComplianceResponsible for engagement with Department of Labour and ensuring the group complies with Department of Labour by providing documentation timeously.Log all work-related incidents with CIRC within 30 days in terms of the COID Act. Manage process until finalization.Facilitate process for the group's letter of good standing annually.Prepare documentation and conduct coherent site-specific health and safety inspections to ensure that premises, and construction projects relating to such premises, comply with applicable legislation and policies. Perform the hazard identification and risk assessment.Keeps abreast of all current and pending legislation pertaining to Occupational Health & Safety and related legislations, by-laws and regulations.Conduct health and safety audits.Safety System ManagementAssure the maintenance and development of ISO1800 (45000) Health and Safety management systems for the agreed area/site and retain accreditation.Lead and facilitate the development of policies, standards, philosophies and assure/facilitate implementation.Assure the maintenance and development of management systems for each area and retain accreditation.To manage company policies and statutory regulations for Health, Safety and Risk, including looking at accident prevention & implementation of systems to reduce accident rates.To ensure the development and implementation of training Health, Safety and Risk ensuring mandatory training is delivered.Education:A Bachelor Degree in Occupational Health & Safety/Safety Management or EquivalentExperience:Integrated Risk Management Programme and sound knowledge of Legislation and SHE management systemsThe Company's approved Employment Equity Plan and Targets will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
