Job Description


Our client, a medical surveillance company, is looking for an Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner with experience in medicals on mobile units. The successful candidate will work from the client's depot in Alberton (Johannesburg South).This is a permanent opportunity, and the working hours are Mondays to Fridays: 07:30 16:30 / As per client request. Overtime may be required from time to time.
Requirements

  • You must be able to get to work without using public transport
  • 5 Years experience in the field of Occupational Health
  • Experience with medicals on mobile units serves as an advantage
  • Grade 12
  • Applicable tertiary qualification which includes Occupational Health and General Nursing
  • Certificate in Spirometry, Audiometry and Vision Screening are imperative
  • Tertiary managerial qualification will be an advantage
  • Registration with SANC
  • Active CPF indemnity cover
  • South African Society of Occupational Health Nursing Practitioners (SASOHN) membership
  • Ability to establish, analyse and interpret data for the purpose of statistical reporting.
  • Must show a good knowledge of the OHS Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, Employment Equity Act and other relevant legislation

Key Outputs
  • Comply with all relevant legislation (Exceptional good knowledge of OHS Act, Mine Health and Safety Act, Employment Equity Act, etc.).
  • Maintain confidentiality, improve client relationships and maintain a professional company image.
  • Must be able to work independently and do a complete medical without supervision..
  • Administration:
  • Documentation - keep accurate records at all times & communicating client information to management
  • Write referral letters to doctors, etc. concerning client deviations
  • Quality control of all medical records before signing it off after a medical examination
  • Occupational Health Practitioner duties:
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation
  • Attend professional seminars and meetings
  • Conduct Pre-employment/periodic/exit examinations, in line with the Minimum Medical Standards set out by our OMP
  • Detection/identification of medical disorders & occupational diseases.
  • Ensure the person attending his/her medical examination is fit to perform the tasks associated with his/her job, before signing off on the Certificate of Fitness.
  • Link exposure history and medical history to any medical conditions found during the examination.
  • Taking of Blood Samples for Biological Monitoring.
  • Execute ECGs
  • Give appropriate health education
  • Recommend appropriate PPE were indicated on the mobile unit
  • Ongoing research and ensuring that CPD points are met
  • Keep up to date with environmental exposures, HCS, liaise with other OHPs, other medical centers and professional organizations
  • Comply with the following:
  • Be able to coordinate and have excellent communication skills
  • Be able to make accurate decisions in the best interest of the company and the client
  • Be able to know what tasks must be delegated and when
  • Excellent motivational skills
  • Be able to enforce discipline in a democratic manner and show excellent personal disciplinary skills
