Job Description


A leading multinational generics pharmaceutical company has a vacancy for an Oncology Brand Manager.
The Brand Manager will assume end-to-end responsibility for the product management of the product, with subsequent successful launch and commercialization in the South African market.Areas of Responsibility:
Brand strategy development and execution

  • Strategic segmentation of customers together with SFE and tailor-made marketing and scientific communication for each quadrant.
  • Build Customer Decision Journey, Identify and prioritize Leverage points from customer journey.
  • Establish market share objective and prescription objective.
  • Develop a detailed Brand plan. Establish sales budget and promotional budget.
  • Have understanding how to use channels and tools influencing customer funnel (awareness, consideration, usage, loyalty). Build patient journey map and identify leverage points.
  • Track the latest promotion trends of the market through various channels, including Digital on their own.
  • Prepare an omnichannel product promotion strategy.
  • Establish promotion of the product, and decide on the promotional materials, key message to doctors & consumers and sales points, marketing activities, marketing incentives for products not included in the sales incentive structure.
  • Create various promotional tools, literature, prescription notebooks and others in collaboration with art designer and vendors based on experts' opinions.
  • Test brand materials before starting the promotion cycle.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the customer experience, identify and fill gaps, and introduce new ideas that increase market share, improve the customer experience, and drive business growth.
  • Work with creative agencies locally to adapt the global brand campaign to the needs of South African market. Follow up on its design, review the final art for the materials, make sure that same are in accordance with the guidelines for the campaign and in accordance with the local marketing code as well as the marketing code.
  • Manage the annual budget for effective implementation of the brand promotion plan. Timely adjust actions plan with resource optimization.
  • Ensure proper P&L management.
  • Create specialized content for different target audiences. Have knowledge of how to extract customer insights. Identify barriers and create communication plan based on insights. Converting the performance indicators of companies into sale.
  • Proactively support the development of commercial short-, mid- and long-term forecasting scenarios
Omnichannel marketing
  • Understand the principles of effective communication in the Digital space. Apply the appropriate digital channels example MedEnrich to increase the DRL share of voice in oncology and elevate the image of DRL as an innovator company.
  • Tracks the latest trends in Digital marketing.
  • Build an Omni-channel product promotion strategy. Regularly review and adapt to ensure key objectives are met.
  • Create specialized content for different target audiences. Apply segmentation to the target audience. Know and use ways to extract customer insights.
  • Web-sites, KPI's analysis, understanding (# of impressions, visits, CTR, bounce rate, visit duration)
Sales Force Excellence and Engagement
  • Provide relevant inputs to conceptualize and plan for SFE.
  • Build required support for SFE specialist and DPEx
  • Monitor SFE reports - if there are areas of concern from brands point of view - discuss and sensitize sales leaders for effective actions
  • Provide input to products or territory wise RCA to ensure identification of key challenges related to execution of marketing plans.
  • Drive preparation of action plan in case the brand doesn't achieve KPI's across the regions in accordance with marketing plan.
  • Provide input to sales team to ensure regional brand action plan preparation.
  • Prepare presentations for SF for Cycle Meetings. Together with the Training Department develop training activities for Medical Reps for working out at Cycle Meetings. In accordance with approved standards, prepare and publish on iLearn portal agreed training materials on new strategy for SF employees.
  • Provide training on strategy at the Cycle Meetings: provide sales results for the brand / group of brands for the previous cycle / year and strategic tasks for the upcoming period (six months / year).
  • Initiate the collection of the most frequently encountered objections and provides SF employees with recommendations on how to respond to objections.
  • Regularly and on his/her own conduct training events for SF at Cycle Meetings (trainings, quizzes, simulations), according to SF training needs identified on a basis of requests from SF or own observations (in the fields, at reviews, at meetings).
  • Initiate marketing projects for SF.
  • Conduct training for the Medical Reps in accordance with the areas of development of marketing knowledge identified by the results of Quarterly Testing.
Code of ethics and compliance
  • Full adherence to the Company's and South African code of marketing and ethical engagements with all stakeholders
Complete on-boarding training matrix within agreed time
  • Maintain up to date training register and adherence to all company training requirements within allocated timelines.
  • Adhere to all policies and processes relevant to specific role/ function including but not limited to LMRC promotional material management, Contracting and procurement processes, execution of events, engagements with HCPs, expense policies etc.
BU wide Transformation initiatives
  • Take lead in proposing BU wide transformation initiatives which could create distinct value for the organization. Facilitate implementation, review & tracking such initiatives (for e.g. safety, productivity, manufacturing excellence)
Qualifications and Experience required
  • Qualification in marketing/ similar
  • At least 3 years' experience in oncology marketing within an innovator company
  • Advanced data analytics capabilities will be an advantage.
  • Qualification or experience in complex project management - required.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in launching innovative assets.
