Job Summary Our client, a renowned company in the IT industry is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a suitably qualified and experienced OpenEdge Progress Developer Lead, to be based in their Cape Town Offices. PLEASE NOTE : This role may be 12months Contractual or Full-time as per our clients operational requirements and may be performed remotely, within South Africa. A benchmarked CTC Salary of R40K - R100K per month is on offer. MAIN PURPOSE FOR THE ROLE : To be responsible for managing a flexible OpenEdge pod team dedicated to ensuring the product meets business requirements. To demonstrate technical support and Progress application support at a senior and advanced level, allowing for innovation to ensure the product remains viable and efficient over the next five years. To provide guidance on the future version of OpenEdge and its impact on the product. KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS : At minimum a Graduate degree/ National diploma is essential. An Honours level or above will be a distinct advantage. At least Progress Development experience of 7 years is essential. At least 5 years Open Edge 11.6/7 experience is essential. At least 4 years GCP Level 1 developer/architect experience is essential. At least 7 years Java Development experience is essential. At least 7 years ERP systems experience is essential. Sound communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in Open Edge 11.6/7, with the ability to transition to 12.7 will prove a distinct advantage. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Global Work Management: Manage work demands globally (excluding North America) from development to support. Prioritize critical technical issues for resolution within agreed time frames. Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with Project Managers to complete work within agreed time scales across different countries. Conduct regular meetings with other product teams to understand changes or updates to API, OpenEdge, databases, and applications. Innovation and Automation: Innovate to automate manual processes and workarounds where possible. Utilize GCP tools and knowledge to enhance development and support processes. Documentation and Communication: Ensure documentation is current and maintained using Confluence. Advise on technical challenges related to product version upgrades and code releases. Work within project budgets and time constraints. Reporting and Monitoring: Ensure accurate reporting recorded in Harvest. Communicate weekly progress updates to the product lead and serve as a liaison between the Data Team and the Product Team. Highlight weekly risks and opportunities. Agile Development: Participate in internal team sprints and scrums as needed. Act as the senior lead in Jira/BitBucket for code management.
