Manage and report to the Senior Manager - PPS Mutual Australia Operational Finance.



Manage the Operational and Corporate Finance functions of the PPS Mutual Benefit Fund, an Australian-based life insurance business supported operationally by PPS Insurance in South Africa. All transactions are in Australian dollars. Responsibilities include monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and supporting PPS Insurance's corporate finance team on fund-related accounting. The role also oversees billing, collections, claims, reinsurance, and commission processes, and contributes to risk management, regulatory reporting, and systems automation in collaboration with IT.



Given the business's complexity, due to its regulatory environment, intricate structures, and reinsurance arrangements, the ideal candidate must be highly organized, capable of leading a team with a systematic approach, and committed to driving process improvement. Automation is a key focus to support the business's rapid growth, enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and deliver better outcomes for stakeholders. The role also includes supporting the Senior Manager on matters impacting PPS Mutual as needed.

Minimum Requirements



Education:




CA(SA)

Experience:




At least 2/3 years post article experience Industry experience in financial services is an advantage. Work non-standard business hours from time to time Financial/Operational experience Experience in the development and enhancement of business processes Up to date knowledge of the Accounting Standards

Knowledge and Skill:




Up to date knowledge of IFRS The candidate must have an ability to identify automation opportunities and therefore an understanding of how the operations systems are functioning. Must consistently meet deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities



Financial and Operational:




Corporate & Operational Finance Management - PPS Mutual Benefit Fund Manage daily, weekly, and monthly finance operations (premiums, claims, commissions, reinsurance) with a focus on optimization, simplification, and automation. Ensure all monthly reporting deadlines and requirements are met. Oversee reconciliations and review complex calculations. Support budget and forecasting processes. Manage and mentor team members; set KPIs and ensure performance targets are achieved. Collaborate with stakeholders (Noble Oak, PPS Mutual Australia, Ops teams, IT) to improve processes and SLAs.

Systems & Automation :




Partner with IT on system enhancements and automation initiatives. Lead or support process design, testing, and implementation.

Risk & Regulatory Management :




Maintain and improve finance-related policies and standards to ensure regulatory and legal compliance. Own and update process documentation to manage risk and ensure control.

People Leadership & Culture :




Lead the finance team in line with PPS strategy; set goals, manage performance, and provide feedback. Mentor staff and conduct peer reviews of key outputs. Promote accountability and initiative within the team.

Stakeholder Engagement:




Engage with internal and external stakeholders across divisions and entities. * Represent Finance in real-time discussions, provide solutions, and manage expectations.
