Job Description


We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager in the Midrand area that has experience in the Cold Storage Warehouse industry to manage an entire operations function within the facility.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • 5 Years working experience in the Cold Storage Warehouse industry is essential.
  • Experience in dealing with a Warehouse Management system is essential. Paltrak or Dev-X are preferable.
  • Excellent computer literacy in the full Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Ability to use own initiative, work under pressure, self-driven and self-motivated.
  • Excellent planning ability
  • Accountability and good reporting skills are critical.
  • Excellent people management and interpersonal skills are essential.
Responsibilities:

Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:

Business Process Optimisation:
  • Responsible for running the facility as a cost-effective standalone business.
  • Ensure that optimal process flow is always maintained.
  • Put measures in place to minimise stock losses, returns, dumping and shrinkage.
  • Continuously improve efficiency of all warehouse processes, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain optimal resources mix to account for changing input costs and customer demands.
Planning
  • Ensure that an operational plan is implemented and executed every day to adhere to Service Level Agreements with customers.
  • Ensure that resources are adequately planned in order to have a quick turnaround of trucks and pallets.
  • Responsible for managing the operational flow according to standards/timelines and KPIs.
  • Ensure that trucks are optimally utilized in terms of space capacity.
Inventory Management
  • Run cyclical, weekly, monthly and audited annual stock counts.
  • Ability to effectively operate a Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Ensure extensive product shelf-life management and stock integrity.
  • Oversee that stock is correctly located in bin location to ensure that accurate information is available.
  • Ensure that any non-conforming product is segregated, isolated, recorded and adjusted off the system immediately with variances reported to finance.
Financial Management Reporting
  • Ability to provide the Financial Manager with information to ensure accurate forecasting and control of annual warehouse budgets.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on cost components.
  • Ensure accuracy of Monitoring Systems.
Equipment Control
  • Ensure controls are in place to ensure Forklifts, Reach Trucks and Power Pallet trucks are managed and maintained.
  • Ensure that equipment records are completed timeously and are accurate.
  • Ensure that machinery complies with safety requirements.
Customer Satisfaction
  • Play a positive and supportive role in the supply chain to always maintain service excellence.
  • Provide resolution of non-delivery on customer service level agreements.
  • Analyse and report trends to understand issues and apply best practices and logic to resolve problems.
  • Maintain solid relationships with customers.
Quality Audits
  • Ensure procedures are in place for Quality management system in order to ensure all relevant audits are passed - both internal and external.
Procedural Compliance
  • Ensure that the facility is consistently compliant with all Company procedures, including Health & Safety and Food Safety Policies.
  • Ensure that warehouse quality standards are consistently maintained in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Frequent review and update of Inbound and outbound, picking, inventory, safety procedures, and quality procedures and validation all are in place and strictly adhered to.
  • Drawing up and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for the entire Warehouse inbound / outbound process.
People Management
  • Fully understand the Companys HR Policies, and be able to resolve staffing issues and concerns (in consultation and conjunction with HR where appropriate)
  • Plan annual human resource capacity needs to meet business needs.
  • Instil and develop profit maximisation appreciation among all warehouse staff.
  • Review and maintain communication structures and procedures to ensure that staff are informed and able to provide their inputs accordingly.
  • Drive and maintain the Company values, staff morale and motivation throughout the business.
  • Ensure that staff are given KPIs for each year, and that these are reviewed at least twice per annum.
