Job Description


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Manager to join an established and fast-growing Truck Transport company based in the south east of Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing a team of professionals, coordinating logistics, and implementing strategies to enhance overall performance.Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics or a related field - preferable
  • Proven experience (10 years+) in operations management within the trucking or transportation industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using transportation management systems and other relevant software.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, motivate, and manage drivers, coordinators, and support staff teams.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the planning and coordination of transportation schedules to optimize efficiency and meet customer demands.
  • Manage monitoring and tracking of the movement of trucks, ensuring timely and safe deliveries.
  • Management of dispatchers to address any issues or challenges in real-time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and perform regular inspections and maintenance on the fleet.
  • Address and resolve any mechanical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly to maintain high levels of satisfaction.
  • Implement strategies to enhance customer experience and build long-term relationships
  • Monitor and manage operational expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising service quality.
  • Optimize resource allocation to achieve cost-effectiveness and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and track operational performance.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to identify areas for improvement.
