Position Reports to: Manager: Verification AuditDivision: Taxpayer Engagement-WCLocation: Belville (Western Cape)Advert Closing Date: 27 February 2025About the PositionTo plan, manage and monitor the implementation of area specific activities and end-to-end processes, managing resources withinTaxpayer Engagement and ensure effective service delivery of the division and ongoing educational activities are executed, in orderto deliver on approved operational plans and to continuously enhance service delivery.Job PurposeTo lead and manage an audit team to ensure effectiveness of audit operations across multi tax types.Minimum Qualification & Experience RequiredRelevant Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) AND a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Tax or Audit environment, of which 1 year is at supervisory level#AlternativeSenior Certificate (NQF 4) AND a minimum 10 years' experience in a Tax or Audit environment, of which 1 year is at supervisory levelGovernance

  • Implement and use governance & compliance procedures & processes effectively to identify and manage risks and expose previously unknown liabilities.
  • Understand and implement governance control processes and role segregation requirements in area of accountability.

  • Ensure the recording and safe keeping of all functional assets in accordance with set policy and process.
  • Ensure team's adherence to specified policies, standards & procedures to prevent & reduce wastage on financial resources & escalate associated risk.
  • Draw up a budget aligned to operational delivery plans, monitor and report on variances.
  • Implement, manage and report on cost improvement objectives and communicate or escalate any shortfalls.
Client
  • Implement continuous improvements and shorter turnaround times in line with Service Level Agreements with stakeholders.
  • Manage interdependencies to ensure input and output flow between all teams and divisions and external stakeholders.
Technical competenciesApplies concepts of knowledge / skill without requiring extensive supervision; also able to provide technical guidance when required.Competency Definition: Depth of understanding on tax related issues and the ability to mentor and coach others on technical matters with the purpose of ensuring that SARS is interpreting and applying the legislative framework effectively and accurately.Behavioural Indicators: Broad working knowledge of all forms of tax (integrated) as applied to all transactions of the business. Interpretation and application of tax laws in area of expertise. Can resolve moderately complex queries, where legal interpretation is required. Can refer to past experience, on how matters have been resolved in the past, to provide advice on a course of action. Can explain how different tax types work to the relevant audiences. Able to interpret and apply tax laws in own area of expertise. Can resolve complex queries with the assistance of legal support.Compliance CompetencyAbility to create reports for various SARS stakeholders as relevant, in a lucid and effective manner, keeping in mind the purpose of the reports.Behavioural Indicators: Sourcing of data using more advance methods, producing less than obvious business data, information and statistics. The ability to identify critical reporting factors and to write, develop templates and present reports. Able to prepare both standard and non-standard assessment reports to time and quality standards.
