Closing Date:26/10/2024PURPOSE OF THE JOBResponsible for the effective and economical management of operations at the assigned Distribution Centre to ensure the operational efficiency of the organization. As the appointed 16.2, the incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that the OHS Act is adhered to and that the site meets all legal requirements.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the daily administration function within the Distribution Centre.
  • Ensure the effective functioning of all departments, namely, Warehouse Operations, Optimal Transport Management, Customer Deliveries, Inventory Management, Site Services, Security and Outsource Services.
  • Ensure that all systems and procedures operate effectively.
  • Maintain effective and outstanding delivery service levels.
  • Ensure that the maintenance of company vehicles and material handling are done in a cost-effective manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the local sales department to ensure that joint goals are achieved.
  • Oversee the Warehouse to ensure stock availability and quality adherence.
  • Ensure that inventory management processes are entrenched as to achieve warehouse losses and write offs in accordance with the budget.
  • Understand inventory postings in order to manage gains and losses.
  • Ensure that all product invoicing and empty return procedures are adhered to.
  • Control expenditure against budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze monthly financial performance and put the necessary plans in place to implement corrective action where required.
  • Assist the Regional Distribution Manager in establishing a five-year capital investment requirement.
  • Compile yearly operational and capital budgets for individual departments.
  • Manage contractors against the agreed upon Service Level agreements.
  • Create an engaging environment to foster business partnerships and good relations.
  • Foster an environment that allows for cross functional learning and integration.
  • Develop Business plans in line with the relevant guidelines.
  • Handle customer complaints and ensure corrective action is taken where required.
  • Manage the on the day OTIF component of customer service.
  • Enhance the customer shopping experience within a TX environment (*) TX Environment Only
  • Evaluate and maintain loss control procedures on an on-going basis.
Ensure adherence to site safety standards as the head of Safety, Health and Environmental Committee. * Review and sign off the necessary internal governance processes.
  • Conduct monthly stock counts in line with the Inventory Management procedures and processes.
  • Manage ICC Audits and ensure ICC standards are adhered to.
  • Ensure that Operational Costs cents per liter is contained through continual investigation and improvement of asset utilization and effective warehouse management.
  • Support regional initiatives in line with the business plan.
  • Ensure effective manpower planning.
  • Identify training & development needs and do succession planning.
  • Ensure that on the job training takes place within departments.
  • Ensure the Company's Vision, Mission, Values and strategic goals are communicated and understood by all employees.
  • Follow the organization's policies and procedures and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • A relevant 3-year Tertiary Qualification.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in FMCG Logistics / Distribution Environment
  • Proficient in MS Office,
  • SAP, Strato, Qlikview, Qliksense, Tableu, Success Factors experience beneficial.
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and sound presentation skills
  • The ability to work after hours and / or shifts if necessary.
  • Knowledge of all relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practice
  • Experience in a customer service environment is essential.
