Job Purpose:This role is responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining the automated paint application process on a production line, ensuring high quality paint finishes while minimizing defects, maximizing efficiency, and adhering to safety standards; this often includes analyzing paint application equipment, troubleshooting issues, developing new processes, and collaborating with production teams to implement improvements.Key responsibilities:Process optimization:Monitor and analyze paint application data to identify areas for improvement, such as paint consistency, spray patterns, and application rates.
Implement process changes to optimize paint usage, reduce waste, and achieve desired finish quality.
Conduct experiments to test new paint formulations and application techniques.Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting:Regularly inspect and maintain automated paint application equipment like robots, spray guns, and mixing systems.
Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions to minimize production downtime.
Coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs and upgrades.Quality control:Inspect painted parts to ensure compliance with quality standards, including color accuracy, film thickness, and surface finish.
Identify and address quality issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Develop and implement quality control procedures.Project management:Lead the implementation of new paint lines or major upgrades to existing lines.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, and quality control.Technical expertise:Stay updated on the latest paint application technologies and industry trends.
Understand paint chemistry and its impact on application processes.
Proficient in data analysis and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.Required skills and qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 5 years experience withing the automotive / industrial manufacturing environment or similar
Some supervisory or people management experience
Experience with automated paint application systems, including robotics
Knowledge of paint chemistry and surface preparation techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
