Job Description


Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Must have a degree in law, legal studies, or a related field
  • Paralegal certification or equivalent legal qualification is advantageous
  • Previous experience as a paralegal in probate law or estate administration is essential
  • Familiarity with wills, probate applications, and estate law in the assigned jurisdiction is required
  • Proficiency in legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have strong drafting skills with attention to detail in legal documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex legal matters in a clear and compassionate manner is essential
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Must be able and willing to work UK office hours
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of probate applications, including inheritance tax forms and grant of probate applications.
  • Managing the collection and distribution of estate assets in accordance with the will or intestacy rules.
  • Preparing estate accounts and liaising with beneficiaries regarding distributions.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents related to wills, trusts, and estate administration.
  • Preparing correspondence to clients, executors, beneficiaries, and other relevant parties.
  • Assisting in drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) and related documentation.
  • Serving as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and addressing inquiries regarding the probate process.
  • Supporting clients in understanding their roles and responsibilities as executors or administrators.
  • Handling sensitive client matters with empathy and confidentiality.
  • Conducting legal research on matters related to probate, trusts, and estate law.
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including tax implications.
  • Investigating and resolving issues related to estate assets, liabilities, and title matters.
  • Maintaining organized and accurate case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
  • Managing case progression and monitoring deadlines to ensure timely completion of probate matters.
  • Assisting with billing, invoicing, and other financial aspects of estate administration.
  • Working closely with solicitors, tax advisors, and other legal professionals to ensure comprehensive management of estate matters.
  • Liaising with external parties such as banks, financial institutions, and the probate registry.
