MAKE A DIFFERENCE TEACHING SPEECH AND DRAMA!

The Isabel Byers School of Speech and Drama is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated teacher; who is passionate about children, Drama and making a difference!

We run an extramural Speech and Drama program to schools in primarily low income areas and underprivileged communities in Johannesburg. We are committed to empowering our students through Speech and Drama.

The position will officially start on the 28th of Feb 2025. Training for a week before the teacher's first lesson. (Teacher will be paid for this) Teachers will receive a curriculum, lesson plans and all teaching materials. Teachers will receive additional training and teaching support throughout the year. Working hours will be between 12pm - 3:30pm (Monday-Friday) Additional support might be required during concert season in October evening, dates and times to be confirmed. Teachers will be given schools in Jhb Teachers teach at the schools, not in an office or studio environment. Teachers are paid an hourly rate of R140 per hour for teaching (minimum of two hours per day) Teachers are paid for attending their students concerts etc. We have a FULL admin team, so their is minimal admin for a teacher. Teachers are given a petrol allowance. If the teacher does well during the trial period, we can offer them more schools in the area and therefore an increase in income.
Candidates must:

Have some experience teaching/working with children. Have some knowledge about Drama as a subject and or experience in performance (not compulsory) Have their own vehicle and a valid drivers license.

Be responsible and reliable. Be willing to learn and have a positive attitude. Have excellent problem solving skills. Be able to take initiative. Be available between the hours of 12pm - 3:30pm on Mondays-Fridays. Have another source of income or is not in need of one, as this is a

part time position.
