Job Description


A vacancy has become available at our client, a private hospital for a Patient Administration Manager. The successful candidate will assume overall responsibility for the management and coordination of patient administration resources, processes and operations to achieve a quality service and optimize the hospitals profitability through the identification and management of applicable financial risks.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, manage and lead patient administration processes in the hospital along the entire patient journey from admission through to discharge and post-discharge.
  • Supervise and actively participate in all case management processes including coding, ward case management processes, discharge processes.
  • Identify and manage all risk factors associated with patient administration including but not limited to, authorisations, LOS, confirmations, co-payments, all other financial risks etc.
  • Supervise the billing processes in the hospital, both at ward level billing and final billing.
  • Understand tariff and tariff structures applicable to the NHN billing group.
  • Take ownership of all the Debtors books and drive the achievement of all targets set in this regard.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Relevant NQF level 6 qualification
  • SANC registration as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse is preferred and will be an added advantage
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar position within the Private Health Care sector
  • Proven leadership and/or people management experience within healthcare
  • Should have excellent knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within Patient Administration.
  • Relevant working knowledge of Private Hospital billing and claims processes.
  • Relevant working knowledge of Private Hospital tariff structures (NHN) and private packages would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and or experience in Case Management processes.
  • Relevant completed course in ICD and CPT coding and practical experience in these areas
  • Working knowledge of COID and understand the Medical Scheme rules, regulations, and protocols.
  • Relevant working knowledge of Debtors and Collections processes in private healthcare
  • Computer proficiency (MS office, Excel, etc.)
