The Peer Navigators will be responsible for engaging potential participants and inviting them to participate in HIV and/or TB related study activities in across Buffalo City Metropolitan.
Grade 12 Certificate
Communication skills (verbal and written)
Fluent in English and IsiXhosa
Experience in recruiting participants
Experience in capturing/entering data
Computer literate (MS Office)
Duncan Village, Scenery Park, Buffalo Flats, Mdantsane, Nompumelelo, Ducats, Ndevana, King Williams Town/Bisho, Ginsberg, Zwelitsha, Izeleni, Fort Murray, KwaMlakalaka, KwaLini, KwaBhonke, eNgqokweni, Godidi, Ndileka, KwaNdubungela, Imidushane or Ngxwalane Communities and clinics with preference for applicants residing in these areas, and knowing the communities well
Advantageous:
Work experience in the community within the health sector
Basic- knowledge of public health and community resources
Experience in using REDCap to enter/capture data
Ability to take initiative
Attention to detail
Ability to work with teams and independently
Good planning and organising
Time management
Able to assist with community meetings
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate
Responsibilities:
Recruit and follow-up participants for HIV and TB-related studies
Administer electronic questionnaires
Facilitate randomisation of participants
Relate to participants in a friendly and non-judgmental manner
Guide participants to where clinic and study-related activities can be accessed Participate in staff meetings and appropriate training workshops as organised and required by the project
Maintain research participant confidentiality
Perform all activities according to Good Clinical Practice Standards
Work in a consistently ethical manner
Provide report back during weekly site meetings
Communicate ongoing issues, concerns, and successes to the Line Manager
Other study related ad-hoc activities
