What you'll be doing
The People Business Partner works closely with our regional leadership team and our Chief People Officer to provide a customer-centric service to our leaders, managers, and employees. As the People Business Partner, you will play a critical role in aligning people strategies with global and regional objectives - including compliance with the South African Employment Equity Act, driving organisational effectiveness, and fostering a positive work culture within the region.
This is the first office-based People role in South Africa, so it is a great opportunity to develop the role and build a strong people partnership with the team. It will be very much stand-alone during the maternity cover period so will include some cross over into People Operations areas, such as onboarding, offboarding, benefit administration, payroll and recruitment.
Reporting to the Chief People Officer you'll:
Partner with regional leadership teams and the Chief People Officer to understand business goals, challenges, and talent needs, and identify potential action plans to support them.
Provide coaching and guidance on people-related matters, including performance management, employee relations, talent development, and succession planning. When providing advice, always ensuring that employment legislation and locally prescribed People Policies are balanced alongside a commercial approach.
Collaborate and work closely with the People Team to implement and drive consistent people programmes, policies, and initiatives across the region.
Support the business in driving and managing change to ensure that teams continue to operate effectively.
Assist with reward, promotion, and talent decisions effectively within the region, ensuring alignment with global strategies while adhering to local People policies, laws and regulations. Taking accountability to ensure decisions are accurately captured and processed.
Assist with organisational design, restructures, and strategic workforce planning reviews.
Assist with talent management processes - 9 box grid assessments, development plans and actions resulting from talent reviews.
Analyse HR metrics and data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and provide recommendations to regional leadership and VP, People
Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract and retain top talent within the region, working to ensure alignment with the Group's diversity profile improves in line with global diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy while meeting local regulatory compliance and affirmative action requirements.
Deliver briefing sessions to managers on people-related life cycle events: hiring, onboarding, career discussions, reward, career pathways etc.
Assist with integration process of acquired companies within the region, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with the company's culture and policies.
Foster a positive work culture by promoting diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being initiatives within the region.
Who we're looking for

Solid experience as a People Business Partner, preferably working in a global technology organisation and ability to implement global policies taking into consideration local requirements.
Previous experience in successfully integrating acquired companies and managing change within a matrix environment.
Strong coaching and consulting skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Solid understanding and experience of supporting employees in South Africa and having strong employment law and compliance knowledge.
Ability to analyse and apply South African employment equity strategies and guide hiring managers through talent acquisition processes, including advising on and tracking progress against established recruitment targets.
Experience in managing complex employment equity exceptions processes (deviations from the official Employment Equity Plan in South Africa), addressing concerns, and providing quarterly updates on workforce composition to the Legal, Compliance, and Risk team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confident and credible in dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
Work closely with the local and global People Team to support the team in South Africa, North America and Canada when required.
Work closely with global team and ensure relevant people are informed and consulted to adopt an integrated and cohesive approach to delivery.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Solution orientated with a lively, energetic and positive outlook. Pragmatic and resourceful with the ability to adapt quickly to different, changing situations and personalities.
Proficient in HRIS systems such as HiBob and Go1 and MS Office Suite.
Ability to tackle issues and situations head on with confidence, enthusiasm and a supportive nature, escalating where necessary.
