Job Description


Are you a qualified Sister readily available to stand in for other Sisters who cannot attend their shift?Our client in Pinelands, Cape Town has a requirement where this role will be a permanent relief sister caring for the elderly.
Duties will involve overseeing/maintaining the care of all residents ensuring the highest possible standard of care through direct nursing and effective supervision of the qualified nursing team.This is a permanent relief position with day shifts, Monday to Friday. There may be occasions when night shifts are required.REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid SANC qualification/certificate
  • Covid-19 Vaccination ESSENTIAL
  • 5 years post-qualification experience working in hospitals or aged care facility
  • Experience overseeing a healthcare team
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Manage pressure and conflicting demands, and prioritise tasks
  • Good compassion and highly professional relationship building with residents
  • Genuine interest in working with residents living with Dementia, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons Disease
DUTIES
  • Manage and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of the nursing and caring team
  • Provide guidance, advice, information, and effective decision-making to the team
  • Take responsibility for residents' care, as designated by the Sister in his/her absence
  • Report any ill health amongst residents and make requests for GP/Professional visits where necessary
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care and seek medical or other interventions as required
  • Ensure collection of any specimens that have to be sent to the surgery/hospital
  • Carry out all nursing procedures efficiently and effectively
  • Administer prescribed medicines and maintain the appropriate records in line with the Companys policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with residents affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship with residents
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure each resident receives individualized care
  • Monitor, update and audit Resident Care Plans on an ongoing basis in line with the Companys policies and procedures
  • Ensure the qualified nursing and caring team embraces the fundamental principles of good care practice
  • Develop and maintain appropriate data collection for audit effectiveness
