At Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd, we strive to deliver best in class locomotives to our customer for use of freight transportation on the railway corridors of South Africa.Alstom Rolling Stock South Africa (Pty) Ltd is looking for a Product Introduction Engineering Technician for our Traxx Africa project based in Richardsbay.THE PURPOSE OF THE PRODUCT INTRODUCTION ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN ROLE IS TO:
Troubleshooting of Alstom products at customer site in order to ensure their availability. Provide technical expertise to subcontractors, warranty support team, project team members and less experienced personnel.THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:
1. Effective performance of Troubleshooting, repairs, Field modifications and testing activities
xefx82xa7 Gather Industrial requirements Engineering has to comply with, during product specification and design. Explain them to Engineering.
xefx82xa7 Carry out Troubleshooting during PI period as well as Pre-warranty & Commissioning (and Validation & Certification if applicable), including investigation and repair
xefx82xa7 Carry out Fleet check activities through TCMS data analysis and physical inspections
xefx82xa7 Reports & register any deviation (failure/event) in Failure Management data base including configuration data
xefx82xa7 Support operation helpdesk
xefx82xa7 Execute test & troubleshooting procedures to evaluate system performance and performs failure analysis on parts to be returned for repair
xefx82xa7 Adhere to all Fleet Maintenance and Product Introduction processes, procedures and relevant SOP's during the performance of work activity and presence on work sites.
xefx82xa7 Support / execute Implementation of Field Modifications and repairs as needed
xefx82xa7 Support specific technical investigations by Engineering or internal/external Suppliers to improve reliability, availability and general performance of the 23E locomotive fleet
xefx82xa7 Identify and recommends preventative and corrective actions
xefx82xa7 Advises PI management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product enhancements
xefx82xa7 Ensure good information flow about interventions & operations within Troubleshooting team to support shift transition, if needed
xefx82xa7 Lead Troubleshooter team, if needed
xefx82xa7 Instructs and directs contractors in facilitating repairs if needed
xefx82xa7 Conducts peer reviews of PI activities and provide technical leadership if requested
xefx82xa7 Perform fleet check to ensure quality when required
xefx82xa7 Contribute to Return of Experience2. Compliance and adherence to Environment, Health, Safety and Quality rules, procedures and policies at all times.
xefx82xa7 Complete industrial documentation: industrial data sheets, IMFU (Industrial Maturity Follow-Up)
xefx82xa7 Ensure that all quality standards are always met
xefx82xa7 Follow depot/site procedures and instructions, both from the Company and from the customer
xefx82xa7 Ensure that quality standards of components are met
xefx82xa7 Implement 8D Practices and PPS Practices as and when required
xefx82xa7 Ensure Zero outstanding NCR's
xefx82xa7 Locomotive Configuration - Ensure serialized numbers are logged in MAXIMO / GSI
xefx82xa7 I-Forms - Attend to I-Forms; Raise product related Issues; Report Incidents and Complete Actions
xefx82xa7 Comply with all safety related training and ensure up to date certifications as required i.e. working at heights
xefx82xa7 Report any and all safety concerns as per Company procedure
xefx82xa7 Collaborate with EHS and Quality teams to ensure we put safety first and maintain first class quality3. Accurate and up to date Reporting and Data management
xefx82xa7 Initiate work through Maximo, update, and close work orders on Maximo /GSI
xefx82xa7 Ensure that test documentation are filled out and placed in data file
xefx82xa7 Ensure that accurate reporting of work performed are done on MAXIMO / GSI.
xefx82xa7 Ensure accurate and comprehensive reporting after testing activities
xefx82xa7 Ensure that routine testing and type testing documents are completed
xefx82xa7 Ensure comprehensive and accurate failure reporting are done
xefx82xa7 Ensure proper record keeping
xefx82xa7 Support the Commissioning Engineer with reporting where required4. Model the AIR values of the Company and always act ethically and compliant

xefx82xa7 B.Tech Engineer (Electrical / Electromechanical)
xefx82xa7 Minimum 10 years working experience (at this level) in a electrical/electronic/pneumatic testing environment
xefx82xa7 Environment, Health and Safety knowledge/exposure
xefx82xa7 Hands on Test & Commissioning, fault finding & repair experience
xefx82xa7 Working experience in Mechanical and Electrical Fault-finding
xefx82xa7 Experience in analytical fault reporting and report writing
xefx82xa7 Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics
xefx82xa7 Experience in Industrial activities related to Electrical, Control, onboard communications & network systems within process industry, railways or factory automation
