Plant Operations Manager






Job Purpose:




Lead HSE efforts according to ISO 45001 and Bayer safety standards focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRA methodology. Participate in compiling Risk assessments and Job safety analysis. Actively record safety observation and near misses. Participate in 5WHY problem solving identifying corrective and preventative actions. Adhere to all Bayer safety policies and procedures. Adhere to requirements of legal appointments.





Key Tasks and Responsibilities:






Responsible for MERP implementation and emergency coordinator for site. Responsible for implementation of Bayer Process & Plant safety Policy 2049. Responsible for the planning and supervision of plant operations including, harvesting schedule coordination with field operations. Offloading, husking, sorting, drying, shelling, conditioning, packaging, and re bagging. Coordination with field operation team to ensure a smooth transition and flow of product from field to plant. Supervise the flow of product through the different stages of the plant process. Liaise with customer services team to coordinate shipment of finished goods. Ensure accurate inventory control and management. Maintain operational records as required by ISO9001:2015 with the focus on continual improvement. Responsible for budget control, minimize cost of goods in conjunction of supply reliability, quality and speed to market/seed availability objectives. Manage facility personnel to ensure excellence in plant maintenance and housekeeping. Assign and review goals, training needs and assessment reviews for plant supervisors and other direct reports. Responsible for consumable planning, purchasing and stock level controls. Support the implementation of onePSS in drying, processing and warehouse. Manage operations through the production system platform onePSS. Support Continuous improvement projects to drive cost saving and OEE. Qualifications:




Bachelor degree in Agronomy, Engineering, Finances or similar, or 5 years experience in seed production. Hands on experience and technical proficiency in seed processing activities and management of a team Field seed production experience desirable MS Office software (Excel, E mail, Word, Project etc.) Fluent in tools and software supporting data driven decision making. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Results focused with ability to work on own initiative, creativity, continuous improvement of processes and outputs. LEAN Manufacturing principles Developer of leaders in the production squads, ensuring self-directing teams as an output over medium-term. Strong teamwork (flexibility to work across the areas and positively influencing others) Establish clear direction and making decisions on a timely manner
