Location: Pretoria
Salary: Negotiable, all-inclusive remuneration packageAbout the Role:Our client, a leading asset management firm in South Africa, is seeking a dynamic and skilled individual to join their team as a Portfolio Management and Valuation Associate. This role is central to managing and enhancing the value of a portfolio of assets, ensuring optimal performance and strategic growth.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement post-investment plans for portfolio companies.
  • Manage complex portfolio actions, including restructuring, debt conversion, and amendments to maximize asset value.
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with investee companies and stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Monitor, review, and analyze the performance and compliance of investments.
  • Conduct active investment management with a focus on value addition and successful exits.
  • Design and implement exit strategies for investment companies.
  • Prepare detailed portfolio company reports and appraisal reports.
  • Identify early warning signals for investments and implement remedial actions.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and the development of best practices.
  • Conduct research and sectorial analysis to stay abreast of industry trends.
Required Qualifications:
  • Honours Degree in Finance, Engineering, Legal, or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience in unlisted investments (deal making or advisory).
  • Strong knowledge of investment and credit risk assessment, financial analysis, and financial modeling.
  • FAIS RE 05 Certificate or willingness to obtain it within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Postgraduate degree in Finance, Engineering, Legal, or a related discipline.
  • CA or CFA designation.
Core Skills:
  • Investment performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Strong negotiation and deal structuring capabilities.
  • Demonstrable experience in deal-making (Debt, Equity, Quasi-equity).
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, returns, and scenario analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and innovation.
